Almost every week, Republicans join a competition to see who can say the most outlandish things, and in the process, they push the envelope on just how idiotic InsaniTEA can become.  I trust that you will believe it, when I tell you that last week was no exception.

Hateful right-wing pundits: Homosexuality was a factor in the Amtrak crash.

0517amtrakHomosexuality is the reason for floods, hurricanes, and of course, 9/11. You might as well tack on the Amtrak crash this week to its long list of accomplishments. When it came to light that the engineer on the train was a supporter of gay rights, and possibly gay himself, that was all the opening the haters needed. Anti-gay haters like Chuck C. Johnson and the editors of WorldNetDaily [World Nut Daily Delinked]immediately jumped aboard that runaway train of thought, citing dubious statistics about higher rates of mental illness in the gay community.

Not to be outdone, the American Family Association’s ever level-headed governmental affairs director, Sandy Rios, told her radio listeners that the engineer’s sexual orientation was probably “a factor” in the crash.

Rios said, per RightWingWatch:

“Now I am not saying, I am not inferring to those of you that are gay rights activists and like to monitor this show, I’m not inferring that this accident happened because he was gay, but I do think it’s an interesting part of the story and you can bet it would be edited out,” Rios said. She then suggested that the engineer could have possibly been “going through some confusion that has to do with the very core of who they are,” and mentioned the story of an airline pilot who “put his entire plane at risk because he had an emotional, angry outburst to something that happened,” which she says was related to hormone therapy he was receiving.

Rios added: “I don’t know, but I think it is something to be discussed and I think it’s a factor and I doubt you will hear it anywhere else.”

We wish we could ignore this dangerous nonsense. But we can’t.

Every time Republicans murder people by cutting funding that would have saved their lives, they find a way to blame it on Obama, black people, gay people, immigrants, poor people, women or another group they target for discrimination.  This only the fifth of five idiotic Republican moments from last week alone.  Click through for the other four.

  1. Kinda sad we have a shortage of mental institutions to commit those publicly delusional to for at least assessment

  2. I'm not sure I'm actually up to much today in the way of reading Republicans, but I will do my best.

OK.  I read every nauseating word.  Amd I am shocked, SHOCKED, that Hannity was reportedly discerning enough to realize (and react accordingly) that every word from McInnes was nonsense.

    Otherwise, Republican business as usual.

  3. Oh, GEEZ! I don’t think I could take four more of their weird, insane theories!
That has to be the most superstitious line of crap that in have ever heard of!
    ROTFLMAO!

  4. How can any sane person act an talk the way they do?

  5. So sorry TC – am too ill at present to read such lunatic (and ungrammatical) nastiness in the link… and from the article here Sandy Rios was implying truckloads of rubbish, she wasn't inferring it!

(Off to lie down again – that dim-witted prejudiced lunatic has made me feel extra ill!).

[I hope I haven't made any mistakes of my own here….!]

  6. Lordy, to laugh or scream???  "Every time Republicans murder people by cutting funding that would have saved their lives, they find a way to blame it on Obama, black people, gay people, immigrants, poor people, women or another group they target for discrimination. "  You are so right, TC – don't these people ever have an original, kind, or compassionate thought?

  7. All 5 are noteworthy as being TeapublicanT nonsense. The lunatic fringe is no longer the fringe but the norm.

  8. My oh my!  The Faux race to the bottom was covered  by Jon Stewart last week in fine fashion.  The rest . . . crazy is as crazy does!

. . . and the Republicanus/Teabaggerum think they are capable of running a country?  They would reduce the US to banana republic status . . . only with nukes.  Heaven help the world if that happens!
