Today is so busy that I must remain as brief as possible.  TGIF Hugs!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:11 (average 5:02).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Media Matters: Jon Stewart: Fox News’ Poor-Shaming Is "Easily Provable And Decidedly True"

Stewart On Fox’s Denial: How "Removed From Reality Is Fox’s Perception Of Their Own Coverage On Poverty?"

Is it any wonder that people who depend on the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda know less that people with no access to TV news.

From MoveOn: 10 Ideas to Save the Economy: Expand Social Security

We need to expand Social Security to prevent the looming retirement crisis, and we can do it simply by asking billionaires to pay their fair share.

Amen to Scrap the Cap!! This is the third video in the series. Please click through to MoveOn, and share it from there.

From The New Yorker: After several days of controversy over whether he would have authorized an invasion of Iraq, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said on Thursday that the question was unimportant since it is now painfully clear that he will never be President.

“Look, I can understand people wanting to know where I stand on this Iraq business if I actually had a chance of being elected,” he told an audience in Arizona. “But since I’ve pretty much pissed that away, what’s the point, really?”

Bush urged those who sought out his opinion on policy matters to take a look at how poorly his campaign is going “and get a reality check about the odds of me ever being President, which are hovering in the vicinity of zero.”

May Andy be speaking prophetically!

  1. I'm saddened that college students are again fair game for law enforcement's killings.

I hope AB is an accurate prognosticator.

The cap and Bush borrowing from the trust fund are the main factors to provide any data suggesting problems with the trust fund that have been so misrepresented in recent years by Fox and so many others.

  2. Sad about those college students from back then. Isn’t that what the subject matter was for “Mississippi Burning” was about? That was a very enlightening movie for me! Even though I was alive during those times, I couldn’t tell you what was on the news back then. I was too busy riding horses and Barrel Racing back then!
Oh, Andy, the Prognosticator, I hope! Strike Three announced his candidacy for the office of president in the hall of some back-ally dive that wasn’t that glamorous for such an announcement!
If the cap was removed from the Social Security trust fund, it would be FLOWING with so much money, there would surely be at least a COLA increase! We can only hope! When these uber-rich get around to needing SS, they will blame it on Obama!

  3. 4:08 average (still) 5:02.   Just got in.

Media Matters – All the terms that Fox so routinely applies to the poor would be ever so much more appropriately applied to the 1%.  An excellent case could be made with actual numbers without even too much research.  I would love to see it.

Move On – Social Security is actually in d*** good shape considering that the Bush Rangers have been all over it.  Not that it's where it needs to be.  Scrap the Cap is not the only good siggestion, but it is a simple one.  I have signed several petitions for it.

New Yorker – Yes, but I hope the republican candidates don't all peak too quickly.  I want many, many of them out there until well into 2016, and the crazier the better.  I want political blood.

    Cartoon – Thanks.  Blood pressure.

  4. Update — The infection has really turned life upside down.  I have no energy; I want to sleep all the time; I have no interest in food but I have to eat;  headaches are raging; and my hand is sore from the IV thing-a-ma-jiggie that is in my hand.  I had IV antibiotics for the third time today and will have it again tomorrow.  With any luck, tomorrow may be the end of the IV antibiotics and then I go back to oral ones for 10 days.  On the good side, I managed some decent food and and the redness is dramatically reduced.  There is still plenty of swelling in the ankle and foot but that too will be gone at some point.  I am heading to bed now hopefully to have a quiet snuggle with my 3 sweeties!  Good night.

Cartoon — Since the elephant in the room likes elegance, let's lynch the elephant at the polls in 2016!

    • I hope you feel better soon.  As much as we love our kitties, they pack a punch when the bite us.

    • Lynn, you poor soul!  That sounds AWFUL!  On the subject of having to take in food when not wanting to eat, have you tried any of the many liquid foods with vits and minerals in, or something like rice protein powder (possibly combined with pea protein powder) – add milk/water and flavouring to taste – it keeps you going and a mug of protein powder mixture is easier to swallow when feeling bleurgh than having to chew food! They keep me going when I feel dreadful and am quite unable to cook, especially when combined with some good vit and mineral tablets.

PS – if you want to sleep, then listen to your body and sleep!  Sleep is when our bodies do the most healing and repair – it is wonderful!

    • I hope you feel better soon.  Get lots of rest and don't forget the fluids.

    • Very encouraged to hear that the redness is going away and that you're getting good nutrition, even if you have to work to do it.

It's absolutely amazing how many extra calories are required to heal, so I'm with Pat A in taking something like liquid Equate or comparable if you're having difficulty keeping up w/ nutrition.  And most definitely, get all the sleep you need – it's a great anodyne for the restoring and repairing process.

    • Please take good care of you.

    • Thanks everyone!  I slept from about 10 last night until 11 this morning, almost missing my 11:30 physio.  I am starting to be able to taste food a bit . . . especially that lemon blueberry scone I had for breakfast.  The bowl of veggie beef soup with cabbage and barley that I had for lunch was very tastie.  Tylenol is helping the headaches.  It's 5 pm Saturday now so I'll be leaving for the hospital very shortly.  On Wednesday or Thursday evening, I met a very nice fellow in the emergency who came originally from Sudan.  We had a great talk and he was amazed that I talked with him.  We did talk about the issues that Muslims face in North America and Europe.  As he said, we talked person to person.  There was no questioning about "are you Muslim or Christian" before starting the conversation.  As he said, and surprise, surprise I agree with him, we were just 2 people connecting.  I met his wife in the parking lot later . . . it must have been the purple hair because otherwise she would not have known me.  He was admitted as he has a gall stone that must be removed but it has to be done at another bigger hospital.  She didn't know when he would be transfered so I am hoping to see him tonight.

I'm feeling a bit better today.  You'll  like this Nameless, my BS reading (that does not stand for "Bull Shit") was 6.6 which of course I was quite happy with.

      Thanks again everyone.

  5. Media Matters:  We are really going to miss Jon.  He pegs Fox every time.  I still think they should be investigated and forced to quit calling themselves a "news" station.  Instead it should be Fox Propaganda for those who are too ignorant to believe the truth.

  6. Move On:  I am so sick of hearing Social Security being called and "entitlement" as if seniors have done nothing to deserve it.  Scrap the cap would solve any problems with SS, and if the Federal government would pay back what they have "borrowed" from it, that would too.

The New Yorker:  I so hope Andy  is right!

Cartoon:  You would thing that the killing of innocent blacks would have stopped by now!

  7. Cartoon – flipping horrifying – and still it goes on!

MoveOn- Paul Krugman is quite correct, as he always is!

Media Matters – thank the Lord you couldn't hear what I was saying in reply to those odious hypocrites, those whited sepulchres on Fox!

    New Yorker – if only!

  8. Swamped!  Hugs!

  9. Love Jon Stewart.Cuts the CRAP and HE GETS IT and is a great commentator. Really going to miss his wisdom and excellent intervues..May your future plans be a great success, The animals will be lucky to have you in their corner.

All the very best.to you and the family.

ps. I hope that someone else "takes on the fools at FOX

  10. Puzzle — 3:05  I loves me some honey . . . fresh Canadian unpasteurised honey!  I'm a day late but the honey was worth the wait!

Media Matters — Jon sure is funny in his lampooning of Faux Noise over their verbal abuse of the poor.  I agree with JD when she says "All the terms that Fox so routinely applies to the poor would be ever so much more appropriately applied to the 1%."!

MoveOn — Robert Reich is so correct and he has a simple but effective way of explaining things . . . so simple that even a Republicanus/Teabaggerum could understand if they chose to listen to truth instead of ideology.

The New Yorker — From Andy's keyboard to God's ear!  No more Bushes in the Rose Garden!

Cartoon — Since the elephant in the room likes elegance, let's lynch the elephant at the polls in 2016!
