Almost every week, Republicans join a competition to see who can say the most outlandish things, and in the process, they push the envelope on just how insane InsaniTEA can become.  I trust that you will believe it, when I tell you that last week was no exception.

Franklin Graham: Don’t persecute Christians. Save that for Muslims.

0426GrahamFranklin Graham visited Fox’s Eric Bolling for a little Obama-hating, Muslim-bashing and general over-the-top fearmongering session this week. The president, they lamented, is being silent on the persecution of Christians everywhere. They were picking up on a theme espoused by Bill O’Reilly last week, and well, every week—the War on Christians and how our secretly Muslim commander-in-chief is A-OK with that.

“Why is Obama so silent on all the atrocities going on against Christians around the world?” Bolling asked Rev. Graham.

Graham said he could not answer the question, and then answered the question by pointing out that Obama is a Muslim.

"His father was a Muslim. His stepfather was a Muslim, he went to Muslim schools growing up, his impressions as a young man came from Islam, not the Christian faith," Graham said. “That might have something to do with it, I don’t know.”

Sounds like he does know, though, doesn’t it? Sounds like he’s pretty cocksure.

The mess in Iraq? All Obama’s fault. Bolling and Graham (two former military commanders, after all) know for a fact that Obama pulled troops out of Iraq too early.

But back to that Muslim-bashing thing.

“As a Christian, I want to emulate Christ,” Graham said. Then in very Christlike fashion, he went after Muslims. “The Muslims want to emulate their prophet Mohammed. Mohammed raped, he murdered, he killed and so we’re seeing the followers of Islam emulate the prophet Mohammed."

Muslims are bad everywhere, according to Graham, but especially here. We need to get rid of them. “We have to be careful of the Muslims in this country. We need to stop the immigration… of Muslims coming to this country from countries that have active terrorist cells."

He’s really got that Christ-like behavior down pat, doesn’t he?..

If I were to emulate Christ, as Graham suggests, I would make a lash of cords and use it to drive out Graham and the rest of the Republican Supply-side pseudo Christians.  That’s what Jesus did with the Republicans of His day.

This is only one of five insane Republican moments from last week alone.  Click through for the other four.

  1. You gotta love those good God fearing Christian republicans out there. I often wonder what the nuns and priests who taught me all those years ago to be loving and tolerant of everyone would  have to say them. I know they would spend a great deal of time in the hall, facing the brick wall, and praying to God for guidance.  Me, ~ I'd just guide the GOP right out of town ~ on a rail!

  2. There is a scripture that says not to worry about the speck in someone else's eye until you've taken care of the log in your own eye….

  3. Carrie, the nuns and priests who taught you all those years ago would not be happy with these people.  And they would be even less happy with the way that Protestant fundamentalists used one issue as a wedge to split the American Catholic church in order to win Catholics to vote on one issue against not only their own best interests, but against the interests of those towards whom Jesus tols them to be especially loving.

  4. It is amazing to me that repukkklican can’t understand the very book they espouse to follow! They REALLY don’t read the fine print, do they! Unfrigginbelievable! And I love in the Buckle of the Bible Belt! I really have to get out the “High-Water Pants” for this crop of BS!

  5. I clicked through and now I am sick at my stomach.  Their solutions to pray away the gay, kill the Muslims, tread lightly around policemen, and ignore the high rate of rapes on college campuses are unbelievable. I doubt they could show me one verse in the Bible that supports this nonsense.  And, the constitution was written by God?  I bet that is news to the powers above.  Several of the writers of the Constitution were atheists or agnostics.  They used their wisdom to try to free this country from the religious persecution that the right wing seems hell bent to restore.

  6. Right wing American insanity!

Franklin Graham —I read about this the other day and was astounded at the temerity of Franklin Graham.  If he wants to emulate Christ, I suggest he gets to know him first.  Clearly he does not know him.  From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Graham

"During a 1953 rally, [Billy] Graham tore down the ropes that organizers had erected to separate the audience into racial sections. He recounted in his memoirs that he told two ushers to leave the barriers down "or you can go on and have the revival without me." He warned a white audience, "we have been proud and thought we were better than any other race, any other people. Ladies and gentlemen, we are going to stumble into hell because of our pride.""

How unlike his father he is.

Tom DeLay — I wonder if God takes dictation as well as giving it?

Megyn Kelly — To quote Forrest Gump: "Stupid is as stupid does!"

PA State Rep Dom Costa — I can just see the headlines after this one goes through: "It was a justified shooting. The perp did not say anything nice to me so I had to shoot him."

Pat Robertson — Isn't there a law against Pat Robertson opening his mouth?  If there isn't, there should be! Another pseudo Christian heard from . . . unfortunately!

  7. Despite feeling really awful I read the article (though did not click through for more – there are limits you know!  And I was very glad that I didn't click through when I saw Edie and Lynn's comments… ).

So Franklin Graham 'tries to emulate Christ' does he?  Well he is a p*** poor imitation in my view!  Let him read and meditate on Matthew 22 36 – 40 inc, and Matthew 25 31.  Then there is the bit in the New Testament where they tried to trap Jesus by asking him what should be done with the woman taken in adultery – the punishment was stoning to death – knowing that if he said to let her go they could vilify him for breaking the law, and if he said to stone her they could vilify him for being cruel….  So Jesus said 'Go and sin no more.' – neatly evading the trap set AND telling us what we should get people to do if they do awful things – go and sin no more – do not hurt them or kill them.   (Mind you, it doesn't mention the man taken in adultery with the woman, does it?).

I see from Lynn's comments that Pat Robertson is in the article – it seems God is in no great haste to have him to judgment, and one can see why!

  8. Just when you thought you hit the bottom of the barrel, these turds surface.

  9. Exhausted.  Hugs!

  10. His father was a Muslim.

Not that it makes all that much difference in this context, but President Obama's father was an atheist.  Based on his name I assume he came from a Muslim background, but there are quite a few atheists who come from a Muslim background, just as there are atheists who come from a Christian background.  You'd think these bluinderers would make some effort to get their facts straight.

    • Why?  They're Republicanus/Teabaggers!  That's what they do!  Up is down, down is up!  Left is right, right is left!
