The elevator is now working, but basking in the rain doesn’t quite cut it.  However, I have had a couple power naps and do have some interesting content.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:50 (average 5:50).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Media Matters: ABC News reported that it "uncovered errors" in Peter Schweizer’s upcoming anti-Clinton book, Clinton Cash. Schweizer has a long history of sloppy research and reporting — earlier this week, ThinkProgress revealed that the conservative author cites a hoax press release in the book.

On April 23, ABC News explained that their independent review of the source material used for Clinton Cash "uncovered errors in the book, including an instance where paid and unpaid speaking appearances were conflated." The book purports to reveal connections between Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state, donations to the Clinton Foundation, and paid speeches given by the Clintons, but Schweizer reportedly admits in the book he cannot prove his allegations.

In this Republican pseudo-scandal there is no quid pro quo. The quid and the quo exist, but the Republican propagandist is uses the post hoc ergo propter hoc deception and substitutes innuendo for the pro. Of course, the Republican bubble machine accepts innuendo as absolute proof.

From Daily Kos: In this visually beautiful and mesmerizing piece, 27 year-old Prince Ea apologies to future generations for what we are doing, and not doing, to the planet today. The six-minute video contains so many great thought-provoking quotes, it’s bound to be shared for many years. So far, in less than 48 hours, his video has garnered over 35 million views on Facebook.

Extreme Kudos!

From The New Yorker: In an urgent memo to the field of G.O.P. Presidential candidates, the Republican National Committee chairman, Reince Priebus, praised them for their relentless personal attacks on Hillary Clinton, but warned that their hatred for the former Secretary of State might be “peaking too early.”

Priebus called the candidates’ ongoing evisceration of Clinton “magnificent,” but expressed his concern that “no human beings, even an impressive group like yourselves, could possibly sustain such a high intensity of throbbing hatred for an entire year and a half.”

“Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint,” he wrote. “You need to leave some hate in the tank.”

In the conclusion of his memo, Priebus advised the candidates to take an occasional day off from hating Clinton so that they could “return to despising her with renewed freshness and vigor.”

Andy does have a point. The constant flood of filth from the clown car just tends to toughen Hillary, for now. I worry more about an eleventh hour lie that comes too late for the Democratic nominee to counter it effectively.

  1. Too many “candidates” in the Clown Car ALREADY! They are spilling out into oncoming traffic, hopefully! Way to go get ’em, Andy!
There will be an onslaught of tantrums from the ” right” right before election! You can bet on that!

  2. 4:04 Don't break a tooth chewing on the wagon wheel, TC.

    • 3:36  Good thing we took this away from Puddy Tat . . . he'd be using this charming old wheel as a scratching post, making it into kindling!

      • And get splinters in my delicate paws?  You can have this one.  If it were on a chuck wagon, that would be another matter.,

  3. Media Matters ~ Today he admitted that he has no proof. The book is scheduled to come out in early May. do you think the errata will be fixed? I doubt it. They'll hawk it for him on FAUX because all they deal in is lies. Nothing new for them.

Daily Kos ~ Prince EA made this beautiful video as an apology to future generations and Agent Orange ate jelly beans in honor of Nat'l Jell Bean Day which was the same day as Earth Day. What a tool!

New Yorker ~ They are saving Benghazi the sequel for their final act.

Cartoon ~ The clown car doth runneth over.

  4. I watched Eric Holder's farewell speech on MSNBC this afternoon. It was pretty funny at the end when he said he could now take off his bracelet. Everyone in his department was wearing a rubber bracelet until he could officially leave. Eric Holder is no longer a hostage.

    • DCCC pointed out that it took 161 days to confirm Ms. Lynch.  That was longer than it took to confirm all 7 of the last AGs combined, and
long enough to write the entire original US Constitution, and
long enough to reach a historical breakthrough in relations with Cuba, and
long enough for an entire season of "The Bachelor" to air, and
long ehough to gestate a baby chinchilla, goat, or sheep.
No frickin' wonder Holder felt like a hostage.

  5. 5:24 average still 5:50.  So I guess if we didn't understand before what it means to be "stonewalled," we do now (and it's not nearly as much fun as being "stoned.")

Media Matters – As you say, TC, just because Schweizer admits he cannot prove his allegations doesn't mean they won't be taken for gospel by the incorrigibles.  I am glad it's ABC News publishing this, though; a mainstream media source.  While no single mainstream media has the audience it had, say, thorty years ago, it is still an audience.  Someone not already brainwashed may see it and learn.

Daily Kos – Well, I sure am glad I have heard of Prince Ea now!  Incidentally Wikipedia has updated the Facebook shares to upwards of 44 milllion.  Wonderful.

New Yorker – You can tell this one actually is satire, because it depends on the premise that Reince Priebus is smart enough to understand the dangers of peaking too early.  Regardless whether it might or might not apply.

Cartoon – While understanding the ubiquitosity (if there is such a word) of the metaphor – I have done a little study of clowning, and even done a little of it, it requires a better person, and better skills, than any Republican has.  Not to mention the fact that while in whiteface a clown is NEVER supposed to speak.  And yes, there's a reason for that.

  6. I am glad the elevator is working, even if it is raining, it may not be tomorrow.

Media Matters:  Since Hillary is the heir apparent for the Democratic nominiation, any mud the Republicans can sling will be slung.

Daily Kos: That is a powerful video.  I shared it on Facebook.  I live in the mountains, with trees surrounding me, but I only have to travel a few miles to see a landscape devoid of  trees, where the strip mines have destroyed all signs of life in their quest for coal.  Since the whole economy here depends on coal, I am a voice in the wilderness when I protest this destruction.

The New Yorker:  Yes, they are after her, full force, because they know she is a threat.  Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi, has been their chant for several years now. They will do whatever they can to destroy her.

Cartoon:  Yes, the clown car is full, but I am afraid one of these clowns will say the right things to convince the uninformed that the car is full of geniuses.

  7. You complain about the rain yet I am rejoicing I can hear some coming down–marvelous and rare enough despite the poems of April showers that lesser news about mere mortals doesn't come close just now.

  8. Puzzle — 3:36  Good thing we took this away from Puddy Tat . . . he'd be using this charming old wheel as a scratching post, making it into kindling!

Media Matters — SSDD in Republicanus/Teabaggerum's world.  Lies and deceit, that's all they know!

Daily Kos — Exceptional video message.  I had never heard of Prince Ea (I know, I need to get out more!) so of course I googled him.  This from Wikipedia:

"In late 2009 Prince Ea, upset at the present state of the music industry, decided to form a movement named "Make 'SMART' Cool". The "Make 'SMART' Cool" movement (SMART is an acronym for "Sophisticating Minds And Revolutionizing Thought") attempts to "promote intelligence to everyone, everywhere and integrate it with hip-hop. To create and nurture, without discrimination or preference, a community of free-thinking individuals under the singular purpose of promoting the ideals of education, intelligence, unity and creativity throughout the world at large.""

Now that is something I could get behind!

The New Yorker — The Republicanus/Teabaggerum are up to their usual antics . . . lies, deception, hate, bigotry, racism . . . did I mention lies?  There has never been a situation that they could not twist to their way of thinking.  I think they are truly afraid of Hilary which makes them dangerous and desperate, capable of all manner of 11th hour shenanigans.

Cartoon — Ah, the Clown Car! . . . full to the brim and guilty of political pollution!

  9. I'm sure we've all heard of the Missouri woman who when elected Mayor, th majority of the police resigned. Here's the latest development. http://crooksandliars.com/2015/04/newly-elected-black-mayor-locked-out-city

    • I undserstand that, once she takes office, she'll have access ti materialsa that will expose their corruption and open the way for criminal charges.

  10. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
