I’m pretty buried with preparing my grocery list for this week, housework, and getting ready for my volunteer day in prison on Thursday.  My mail-order pharmacy got back to me.  They admitted that they were at fault, apologized for my inconvenience, have removed the charge for the wrong medication, and are not charging me for the correct medication, which they mailed this morning.  They exceeded my expectations.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:12 (average 5:11).  To do it, click here.  How dod you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Why would anyone vote Republican? Well, here are 10 reasons.

1. You are a bigot

It’s true that not all Republicans are bigots. But if you ARE a bigot, the Republican party will be much more your group than the Democratic party. Remember that there are lots of ways to be a bigot: You could be a racist, a homophobe, an Islamophobe, or lots of other things.

2. You like eating, drinking and breathing poison.

Many Republicans are calling for or voting for shrinking or eliminating agencies that protect us against poison. They seem to think that the corporations will do the right thing, without any pressure from the government. Uh huh. Read The Jungle.  Look at the way Monsanto is hiding facts about Round Up. Look at food safety and outbreaks of E. Coli.

Corporations exist to make money. They will do so any way they can. The government needs to stop them from doing so in ways that hurt people.

3. You think the rich don’t have enough money

The idea that giving more money to rich people (via tax breaks) will help poor people is nonsensical and has been shown wrong time and again in history. Huge tax breaks for the rich (a la George Bush) don’t work.

These aye just the top three. Click through for the other seven.

From NY Times: It was a memorable political ad [Barf Bag Alert!!]: Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin spoke directly into the camera in a 30-second spot last fall and called abortion an “agonizing” decision. He described himself as pro-life but, borrowing the language of the abortion rights movement, pointed to legislation he signed that leaves “the final decision to a woman and her doctor.”

That language was gone when Mr. Walker met privately with Iowa Republicans in a hotel conference room last month, according to a person who attended the meeting. There, he highlighted his early support for a “personhood amendment,” which defines life as beginning at conception and would effectively prohibit all abortions and some methods of birth control.

Mr. Walker has quickly vaulted into the top tier of likely Republican candidates in the presidential race, surging on the reputation he earned by taking on labor unions and surviving a bitter recall election in a swing state.

Was the Fartfuhrer of Fitzwalkerstan lying in that political ad last fall? Was he lying to Iowa Republicans? Has he ever told the truth?

From Crooks and Liars: Unlike CNN’s Gloria Borger who brought Paul Wolfowitz on this Sunday for some Republican rehab, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry took former governor and GOP 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush to task for seeking advice from the former Deputy Secretary of Defense and reminded us of the fact that he was wrong about just about everything when he was working for Bush’s brother.

MHP and I have something in common. I also slammed Strike Three for tapping Wrong Way Wolfie.

  1. 4:26 average still 5:11.  I'm bound to say your pharnacy would have exceeded my expectations too, and mine are high.  I would have expected everything except the no-charge-for-the-right-one.

Daily Kos – Yes, I jumped to read when I saw that title.  I do have to add that numbers 2,3,4,5,7,8, and 10 could all have added "or you are so dumb you don't grasp that it is the Republicans who are doing this, or the extent to which they are doing it."  I think a whole lot of people – more than a pants load – are like that.  And the problem with that is that when you try to explain to people who have been lied to, they are not angry with the liar, thay are angry with YOU.  There-s a reason for the expression, Don't kill the messenger."  It's human nature to want to, and has been done throughout history.  If you can bear one more Shakespeare reference (there's been a Shakespeare background series on PBS so things are fresh in my mind), when the messenger in "Anthony and Cleopatra" has to tell Cleo that, while in Rome, Anthony married someone else, it's not pretty.

NY Times – Scott Walker is someone who, if he said that the sun is shining, I would grab my umbrella (or, in winter, my snow boots).  Enough said.

Crooks and Liars – Republicans need rehab. all right, but probably not the way CNN did it.  It's not their reputation that needs to be rehabbed, it's them – and it should be residential rehab with no privileges and no leaving the campus and it should last for at least 10 years.

Cartoon – Yes, over Mississippi's rejection (seriously, the ratification map is a hoot).

  2. 3:14  I'm giving TomCat the bird.

  3. Glad they took responsibility and fixed the problem and found a way to compensate you for your grief.

Nice list yet many that fit may not see themselves.

Walker has been on a power grab–just lost in court on his education effort at least.  He also will suffer from media scrutiny since he's changed his tune so many times on so many things–easier to remember what you've said when you always tell the truth.

Like how Perry bested Borger–hopefully more in the media will do likewise and we'll see Jeb fizzle early.

Hope we get some action somewhere in actually upholding this amendment and related court rulings.

  4. I've come to the conclusion that Scotty Walker is the same as Sarah Palin … but only with a Y chromosome.

(The Stupid is strong with this one)

  5. Glad you got your on line pharmacy lined up.

Daily Kos:  Shared on Facebook, I will get slammed tomorrow and I don't care.  best definition of Republican ideology that I have seen.

NY Times:  Has Scott Walker ever told the truth?  I signed a petiton tonight to Wisconsin to block the Right to Work law that he has been pushing.  Such a mis leading name for an act that will effectively remove all worker's protections.

Crooks and Liars:  She is so right.  Why not just invite Cheney and Rove to join, too?  Heaven help us if he becomes our next President, because nothing else will be able to stop the stupidity.

Cartoon:  And the Republicans are doing all they can to amend this.

    • God bless your courage Edie in putting stuff on Facebook that you know will ignite the Repugs unjust fury!

Re the Right to Work Act – I have always said the Repugs put the opposite name on a Bill to the contents, and that if they introduced a Bill with compulsory euthanasia for the elderly, it would be called something like "Hug the elderly" or "Help for the elderly" – unfortunately all too many of their supporters seem inclined to listen to the title and be convinced for ever afterwards that that is what it contains.  Bewildering.

    • I named hin Strike Three for a reason.

  6. Puzzle — 3:07  Jerry, that bird may dress in clashing colours but that's no reason to condemn it to death as flamingo fricasée at the paws of that puddy tat!

Daily Kos — Sounds about right!  I love #7.  The Republicanus/Teabaggerum and many of their sheeple whine about the size of government, and how they want much less government.  But the Republicanus/Teabaggerum keep trying to regulate everything like women's reproductive rights, drug tests for welfare recipients and yoga pants, just to name 3 of many.  I guess it's true, "They only object when government helps people."

NY Times — A "baby Rmoney"?  He'd better watch how often he flip-flops . . . it really gets hard to remember after a while who one said what to.  Maybe he'll etch his sketch right out of the race.

Crooks and Liars — There's no accounting for some people's tastes.  Of 21 advisers, only 1 was not a retread. Jeb's his own man though.  I heard that NORAD identified a UFO recently . . . a group of pigs flying around the country.

Cartoon — If one is required to show specific picture ID to vote, and obtaining that ID costs money, would that not effectively constitute a 'poll tax' and be a barrier to exercising one's constitutional rights?  I think so.

"Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax.

Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation"

  7. Glad you got your problem fixed with the pharmacy. I did groceries yesterday. The worst part was loading and unloading the car in 30 to 35 below wind chill factors. The wind was really whipping around.

Daily Kos ~ I shared this on FB and got no responses from by TeapublicanT "friends and relatives". Still waiting.

NY Times ~ He has a lot to say and flip-flops a lot but when given the easy questions by the "lame stream media" he "punts the ball", in his own words. Like Lynn said – Baby Rmoney?

Crooks & Liars ~ I'm glad Jebby is being taken to task for his poor choices in advisors. That Venn diagram last week floored me. Lat night, Lawrence O'Donnell had a panel discussing this. No one liked his choices, especially Wolfowitz.

Cartoon ~ What were  the Fascist Five on SCROTUS thinking last year???

  8. Giuliani makes ridiculous statement re. the president not LOVING America.

Repugs REFUSE to fund Homeland SECURITY>

Repug game of "whats an  OXYMORON" perhaps!  (chat heard re. attacks IN America) Way to go  Repugs.

your disdain for fellow Americans is Mind Blowing..and Moron is appropriate. have a good day TC.

  9. So glad your pharmacy realised their mistake and apologised with grace – rare these days!

Daily Kos – brilliant, as are people's comments!
