Day 98.  Yesterday’s volunteer meeting in prison was excellent.  Our CoDA group talked about making amends.  Often people are not receptive, when we try.  When that happens, we should accept that without bitterness.  Obtaining a favorable response is not the purpose of making amends.  Our willingness to do so unloads the baggage; so we don’t have to carry it anymore.  The down side, as usual, is that I’m quite worn out today.  I’m waiting for Store to Door to deliver groceries.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:04 (average 5:43).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Democratic Party of Oregon: 2015 Legislative Session Agendas

In November, with your help, Oregon Democrats won resounding victories in the State House and State Senate. And thanks to you, they’re already making a difference.

To learn more about what Democrats in the Oregon Legislature are working hard to accomplish right now, view the Democratic session agendas for the Oregon State House and State Senate.

Click the links for House and Senate.  It’s is what Democrats are doing in Oregon. It might well serve as a model for the nation.

From MSNBC: ‘Bears’ have own plan for Jeb Bush campaign site

Since MSNBC took down the video they put on YouTube, we’ll try again. We still don’t know what bears do or don’t do in the woods, but they certainly do on the Bush!!  😀

From Upworthy: Dealing with the mess we’ve made feels overwhelming. Does swapping out your lightbulbs, writing your legislators, and sorting your trash really change anything? How can one person make a difference?

It turns out that our little actions, all added up together, do make a big difference. If everyone in the United States turned off the water while they brush their teeth, the daily savings could be up to 2.528 billion gallons. That’s more than twice as much water than the entirety of New York City uses in a day.

In this tongue-in-cheek video, a cat shows you how he makes a few tiny changes that have a big impact.

I have to say that cats are the wisest of creatures.

  1. 4:43  My hydrant was empty.

    • 3:41  My hydrant is ready to go if there is a fire, unless of course, Patty comes along and empties it.

Years ago, my bedroom was painted fire engine red with black accessories.  I have always like bright colours or definite colours, none of this pastel stuff.  Hey, even some of my hair is purple, running anywhere from a solid blue purple to a bright magenta purple.

      • 3:55 My engine was a tad slower than Lynn's in getting to the hydrant.

I'm a lot like you, Lynn. I had a pink bedroom with red rugs curtains and bedspread. I once had a bathroom with black and white tiles on the floor and half way up the walls. I painted the top half fire-engine red and had red, hite and pink towels and curtains, and a red bath mat. Give me bright! My kitchen table has a red porcelain top.

    • If I were a dawg, I might have hurried to pee on it, but there's npthing there for a cat,

  2. Small note: Today is the ninth anniversary of Dick "Darth-Vader" Cheney shooting Harry Whittington on his infamous hunting trip.

To be sure, that is NOT the least of Cheney's crimes.  And I suspect you can now find a pretty cheap "I Went Hunting with Dick Cheney and All I Got Was This Lousy T-shirt" splattered with gunshot wounds on the Internet.

    • Who the hell would want to dress in a T shirt with Dick Cheney's name on it, bullet holes or not?  Send Cheney to Iraq to negotiate pease with ISIL!

      • Amen to that, Lynn!

        • I would never think of wearing a t-shirt with Dick Cheney on it. The thought of Dick Cheney across my chest gives me the heebie jeebies. I'll keep and wear my Harley tees. Thank you.

Let ISIL have Dick Cheney and allow them the "Freedom" to torture him with a bit of his own medicine. Maybe Dick will "squeal" like a pig that he is.

    • And today is the ninth anniversary of me calling him, "Dead-eye Dick".

  3. I just heard our DEM legislature in CA has set 100% renewable energy goals for not too far off–they also are like OR in getting many essentials done.

Sometimes animals know best (like Mother Nature)–your Bears and Norman are good examples of that.

I hope Gerry lived to regret is most notable accomplishment.

  4. 4:35 average still 5:43.  Black and white and red all over.  And if you like that, you will LOVE the worst joke contest that Save the Arctic is having to highlight that drilling there is a bad joke.  http://worstjoke.org/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=150210WorstJokeLaunch&utm_campaign=WorstJoke#shareHead, and you don't have to enter, you can just use the "joke generator" and groan to your heart's content.  I don't ahve a webcan or a smartphone, but I have a joke I think is a real winner, er, loser, which I will gladly share.

So glad the volunteer trip went well.  Rest up.

Dems of Oregon – How nice.  Altough I do try to live as green as I can with my limitations, the green I am now is from envy.  Good on you guys.

MSNBC – I was able to see it earlier.  It seems to be a great site, and there seems to be lots of support.  Long may it flourish!

Upworthy – I have seen Norman before   Best. Mascot. Ever.

Cartoon – You don't suppose he was trying to get revenge on the world because his parents named him "Elbridge," do you?

P.S.  John Kiriakou is out of prison!  I don't say "free" because hi stall has three months house arrest and three years of probation, but at least he can be with his wife and kids and wear his own clothes.

  5. I hope you have had some rest by now.

Democratic Party of Oregon:  This SHOULD be an example for the nation, we would be so much better off if it were.  Sadly, the GOP has a stronghold now, so none of this will be done on a federal level.

MSNBC:  I still love the fact that a gay couple own that site. In your face, Jeb.  I hope they can educate a few people with their comments on it.

UPWORTHY:  Of course, I am going to love any thing with a cat in it, but this video was great and I shared it on Facebook.  My dad made us turn off the water while brushing our teeth, due to economics, not conservation, and it has been a life long habit.  We all can do a little thing and those little things add up to a lot!

Cartoon:  He had to have been a Republican wannabe.

  6. Democratic Party of Oregon:
    Agendas sound good to me.

    MSNBC:
Saw the "bears" on Rachel Maddow's show the other night. They are a funny and gracious duo. They have the "right stuff" for their web site. lol.

    Upworthy:
    In this tongue-in-cheek video:
Don't think I would want a "Norman" here in my home. lol.
5 out of 8 do conservations for me per the list.

    Cartoon:
Elbridge Gerry certainly did screw up our election processes.

  7. Puzzle — 3:41  My hydrant is ready to go if there is a fire, unless of course, Patty comes along and empties it.

Years ago, my bedroom was painted fire engine red with black accessories.  I have always like bright colours or definite colours, none of this pastel stuff.  Hey, even some of my hair is purple, running anywhere from a solid blue purple to a bright magenta purple.

Democrats of Oregon — I couldn't find fault with any of that.  Particularly like the investments in education, work life and infrastructure.  I agree with you, it would be a good starting point for the nation but it is the wrong kind of investment for the Republicanus/Teabaggerum.

MSNBC — Operor ursi cacas obvius Bush!  Works for me!

Upworthy — Long live Norman! (looks like my Fred RIP)

I remember a story from a Superman comic that has obviously stuck with me for years.  A 10 year old boy riding his bike down the sidewalk in front of some brownstones.  He jumps off his bike to go into his house leaving the bike on the sidewalk where people had to step over or around it.  When he came back outside, there was Superman to remind him to pick up his bike and park it next to the building so others would not be inconvenienced.  "It's only one bike" he argued.  Superman then transformed the sidewalk with hundreds of bikes.  "If all your friends did as you did, would people be able to get around?" Superman asked.  The boy just shook his head.  The point being that every one action contributes.

Cartoon — Gerry got his salamander, and future generations got screwed!  Interesting article in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering

    • Elbridge Gerry aka gerrymandering's idea have had a devastating effect not only here in USA but in other countries as well. His idea has been exported all over the world. Yes, a very interesting read in Wikipedia. Thanks for the info link.

    • True, but poor kids would have had bikes. 🙂

  8. You're correct in telling your guys that it's not about someone forgiving them. It's about them letting it go after they have tried to make amends. I'm exhausted after doing my bi-weekly grocery shopping yesterday. It only involves going to 2 grocery stores but it's the unloading from the car and them unpacking bags and putting everything away. Today I'm staying in and only doing some laundry. It's snowing (again) so I can't hang it on the line outside so it's upstairs on wooden racks.

Dems of Oregon ~ Kudos to your Legislature! They care about the children, their education and the world we leave for them.

MSNBC ~ I love these guys! Update on the Tech guy; he resigned over his "smarmy digital past". That's not the least of his Jeb's troubles. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/bush-email-dump-includes-social-security-numbers-of-florida-residents/ar-AA9dYCN?ocid=ansHill11  Another juicy little tidbit : http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/02/03/1361864/-EXCLUSIVE-Koch-Brothers-Rick-Scott-And-Jeb-Bush-Exposed-In-Florida-Pipeline-Scandal

Upworthy ~ I'm a real nag about recycling up here. I have a well so I don't waste water either. My thermostat is only set at 62 and I'm home all day long for the most part. I try to shame others into doing their parts too. Every little bit helps. I love Norman! He looks just like my Silly.

    Cartoon ~ What Lynn said!

  9. Do we have a cool President, or what?  (Even without CC I was able to enjoy it.  The fact that it's causing Rethuglican heads to ASSPLODE is just icing on the cake!)

  10. No, I did not receive a card from you yesterday.  I head for your articles 1st thing in the morning.  I know now that I need to check in the evening also.

  11. I hope the “bears” don’t ever lose that domain name! They do so much good in the quest to keep Shrub out of the running for anything, including dogcatcher!
    KUDOS the BEARS!

  12. TY TC – I didn't get the C2 message either.  I am delighted with the Oregon Democrats – both documents excellent.

So glad you had such a good time with your chaps – I think one of the main problems with the world  today is that people don't look at their own selves and their own behavior and face up to what is wrong and try and put it right, and as a result they just project their own nastiness onto others (clearly visible in racism) – so I am really glad that your guys will be ahead of most of the population!  Well done TC – and they will all feel lighter of spirit as a result!

I utterly love Norman the eco-warrior cat – but shrieked with horror as he appeared to drink from the loo!  Put the lid down folks and stop spreading germs!

  13. In this tongue-in-cheek video, a cat shows you how he makes a few tiny changes that have a big impact.

    I Love Cats. 😆
