The Shame of the Holy Orb

I trust that most of you are aware of my participation in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, and that the highest holy day ending the religious year will take place in a meditation this Sunday, between New England and Seattle.  A scandal has been growing over the last few days, so extreme that the Holy Orb may have to hide its light in shame.

More details have emerged about the alleged role a New England Patriots locker room attendant played in the "deflategate" scandal.

On Monday, Fox Sports reported there is video showing the attendant taking footballs the Patriots provided before the AFC title game against Indianapolis from the game officials’ locker room and into another room at Gillette Stadium before bringing them out to the field.

Late Monday night NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk added several additional details, all attributed to an NFL source. According to the report, the locker room attendant took two bags of 12 footballs each — one for the Patriots and the other for the Colts — into a bathroom consisting of a toilet and sink with a door that locks from the inside. He remained in there for approximately 90 seconds, the report said

All of that information was obtained from a surveillance video that the Patriots turned over to the NFL early in the investigation, according to Pro Football Talk…

For me this is particularly devastating, as I may be left with the choice of Chickens or Cheaters.  How does one meditating on having both teams lose?  Rachel Maddow also has the story.

This may be the only time that I have ever found myself in complete disagreement with Rachel.  Given the Patriots track record, I find it highly suspicious.  I understand that Republicans are now coming out in Brady’s defense, and that is even more suspicious, because Republicans have an expert that would just love to play with Brady’s balls in the bathroom.

  1. I'd much prefer this story if I could believe it was intended to be a symbolic deflating of egos.

  2. I totally agree with your last paragraph.

I have to say though, my sister and I have had a good laugh over this. When we heard about the video, our first reaction, was a good laugh. Something Nixon would do. 90 seconds? Even young guys with a good bladder take longer than that to releive themselves.

    Enjoy the game!

I remember this guy in the airport bathroom, can't remember his name… πŸ˜†

I predict a New England Patriots Win on Superbowl Sunday. πŸ˜†

    • Senator Larry Craig (R-ID).  Senator Larry Craig was another in a long list of anti-gay Republicans who got caught in a gay scandal, after attempting to solicit sex in an airport bathroom from an undercover male agent.

  4. Ah!  Deflategate!

Althougth the vid is gone here, it can be found at http://www.MBNBC.com .  Rachel is quite funny as she and a staffer tried to "scientifically" measure whether 11 footballs could be relieved of 2psi of pressure in 90 seconds. They managed 8 with the caveat that her assistant was not a professional.

So I guess we'll just have to wait . . . but in the meantime  "Go Seachickens!!!"

    'Deflategate'

    Fox Sports:
I don't trust Fox an anything and consequently did not look into its story and video.

Football does not interest me anymore for the sole reason of not having a TV. lol. I'll  be looking forward to the commercials once again just more for entertainment than anything else on YouTube. Bud's team of Clydesdales always interest me. They are really beautiful horses.

You can pee in 90 seconds by pushing down on your pee muscles if you are in a hurry. lol.

One scenario,  some disgruneled Colt fan called in, anonymously, of course, and started the "rumour".

Rachel Maddow had an interesting point of view and the demonstration she provided was informingly realistic and entertainingly funny.

    Cartoon:
Are they doing the Koch's tap-tap toe dance in the bathroom stalls with Larry Craig… again???

  6. For me, the decision is easy:

GO SEAHAWKS!  (I don't believe a WORD of Brady or the coach)

And for those who may only have a passing interest in football, BUT a profound love of classical music, I've got a NEWSFLASH for you!

They recently unearthed a heretofore unknown opera by Johann Strauss.  It's an eerily prescient telling the story of the the patriots in New England.

Oddly enough, Strauss decided to call it …

    (wait for it …)

    Deflatormaus!

(Get it?  "Die Fleder Maus" – "Deflatormaus".  Too highbrow?  Oh, well – I got a chuckle out of it.)

  7. The cartoon was funny, but I know so little about football that I couldn't comment on the story. Couldn't get Rachel's video.

  8. Methinks doth protest too much.

    Go Seachickens!

  9. Brady and Belicheck are both unfrigginbelievable! Seriously! Brady was so, so huffed up that he could never be believed, even on a stack of Bibles! They have cheated before and they will do it again! Brady would have to have known that those balls were underinflated! The grip on the balls is so different with that much psi missing. And on a rainy day? Puuullllease!!! He KNEW it and still played with them!
And the refs HAD to know because they handle the ball before every SNAP! Sooooo, me thinks I smell a RAT!
I will be meditating that there is a 0-0 tie at the end of the game! But if I have to pick one, GO SEACHICKENS!

  10. Thanks all.  I'm sorry the video wen't south.  I have a very busy day.
