Meet the Enemy

I’m sorry to report that the new Republican controlled Congress begins this week.  Some of our old nemeses will be there.  In addition, we will be getting a crop of new  extremists that promise to move the Republican Reich even further right.  Here’s one of them:

Glenn Grothman

0104GrothmanHatIn Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District, Tom Petri, an establishment Republican who may or may not be seriously ethically challenged [propaganda delinked], opted not to seek a 19th term in the House this year. When voters in Petri’s district replaced him with state legislator Glenn Grothman, it marked a political shift from the right to the far right.

You can’t spell “Grothman” without some of the letters you need to spell “troglodyte,” and his views on issues like race, gender and LGBT rights make him one of the most incendiary incoming House Republicans. Grothman once said that Martin Luther King Jr. Day shouldn’t be a state holiday, and he has opposed equal pay legislation on the grounds that “money is more important for men. [propaganda delinked]” Meanwhile, Grothman charges that gay teachers have an agenda to turn their students gay, and he blasted Secretary of State John Kerry for opposing a Ugandan law that imposes 10 years in prison for homosexuality.

“We send scientists to Africa to say how wonderful the homosexual lifestyle is,” Grothman said in April. “It is just unbelievable what has become of our country.”…

  1. Oh God help all the decent people in America this year – the last 'do-nothing Congress' was bad enough – I do hope that this one won't be worse, but fear it might.  What is worse than a Repuglican sitting around being vastly overpaid for doing nothing?   Why a Repuglican venting all the anger and contempt that he secretly feels for himself onto others – and doing so by making laws!

  2. I think I need a new filtration system for my health to keep out these toxics from my system.

  3. As Mencken said, democracy is based on the idea that the people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

In this case, most people didn't bother to vote, and as a result they got Republicanism.  That being the case, better that they get that Republicanism good and hard, so they get it through their heads that keeping these people out of office is important.  Hopefully by 2016 they'll have learned.

Besides, the crazier the crazies are, the harder it will be for Boehner and McConnell to keep control, and th more the party will be paralyzed by internal poo-flinging fights.

  4. It's kind of a Cach-22, isn't it?  We're going to need more barf bags … but using them will make us starve faster … because we won't be able to afford to replace the nutrients we lose by barfing … oh, wait, that's not a bug, it's a feature.

  5. With these little blessings in the Congress and a Republicanus/Teabagger majority, the US needs a lot of prayers to help it survive, or a damn fine revolution to clean house of the conservative vermin.

Joni Ernst — Does this woman (and I use the term loosely) ever shut her mouth?  I think of all the pictures of her that I have seen, her mouth is always open, a gaping maw!  It must be sealed shut before any more buffalo chips come streaming out!

Glenn Grothman — “We send scientists to Africa to say how wonderful the homosexual lifestyle is,” Grothman said in April. “It is just unbelievable what has become of our country.” — Isn't it though . . . a country that espouses freedom and justice, and then lets Grothman and others of his ilk sit in Congress making laws and spending money, must surely be wacka-doodle!

Mark Walker — And this is a Man of God?  I think he got his wires crossed and worships at the altar of the fallen angel . . . you know the one . . . pitchfork in hand, glowing eyes, horns, and really hot feet!

Cory Gardner — A true chameleon . . . changes colour to suit the situation and then returns to his real true state.  A true deceiver, a true Republicanus/Teabagger.

Jody Hice — "… Hice has written that “the homosexual movement is destroying America”  — I beg to differ,  It is the ultra conservative Republicanus/Teabaggers that are destroying the US with their hate, discrimination, and backward thinking.

  6. We have a terrible six years ahead of us, unless we can unseat some Republicans in 2016.  This country is in big trouble.  I still don't understand how Iowa elected Ernst, but I don't understand how Kentucky elected McConnell, either!

    •  It is called "stuffing the ballot box"…

      • Actually the 3% to 5% extra that Republicans get from rigging the voting machines in areas where they control them, wasn't even needed, because turnout was so very bad.  When normal prople opt out, extremists choose for all of us.
