I’m writing for tomorrow, day 182.  It’s a thoroughly hectic day, so much so that the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb is staying in the background, until my Broncos come on this evening.  Tomorrow I have to leave home before 8:00 AM to go to a routine Urologist appointment.  God only knows when I’ll be back.  I just know I’ll be short on research and long on exhaustion. I hope they give me a cup with a Republican in it, so I can pretend I’m a dawg!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:01 (average 4:33).  To do it click here.  How did you do?

I fell asleep vertical and missed most of it. 🙁

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Rep. Louie Gohmert (of course), speaking to Glenn Beck (of course), is angry that the CDC said the Texas nurses who contracted Ebola had violated protocols:

"It’s a shame that the CDC head, Frieden, is apparently the new commander of the Democrats’ war on women nurses," Gohmert told Beck. "Because, goodnight, they set them up, and then they throw them under the bus."

We could talk about how, in reality, Frieden called the nurses "good, dedicated people" who violated protocol in part by wearing too much protective gear, something one obviously does with the best of intentions. And how, in reality, Republicans are always looking for ways to make nurses’ jobs harder and less safe. But coming from Gohmert, this isn’t about nurses. It’s about finding a way to connect Ebola and Democrats.

Our own Inspector Goosestep is a cross between the Inspector Gadget cartoon and Louie Go-Go Goosestep Gomanic!

From Democrats Unite: Not sure if you are going to vote this year? Here are 10 reminders taken from the Republican and Tea Party’s “Least-Greatest Hits” from the 2012 campaign cycle:

1) “Our nation needs to stop doing for people what they can and should do for themselves. Self reliance means, if anyone will not work, neither should he eat.” – Michele Bachmann November 2011

2) “He who warned, uh, the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed.” Sarah Palin June 2011

3) “I believe there is about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party.” – Allen West April 2012

  1. 3:33 Flitted right by me.

  2. FF ~ I'm getting worse instead of better.

Daily Kos ~ Like I said before, Louie didn't disappoint me with his reaction. Give that man a mike he he will make a fool of himself every time.

Democrats Unite ~ Democrats need to start using these statements and others like them in their ads and speeches. Go on the attack and learn how to speak to the voters. Everyone – Get out the vote!

YouTube ~ She will keep on fighting for us but she can't do it alone. Vote!

Cartoon ~ Mitt woud just use his Etch-A-Sketch again.

  3. Off to Illinois AGAIN for another week of packing in preparation for Mom's move.

  4. Daily Kos – apart from ignoring the venom and disinformation that this unappealing pair pump out, I was interested and rather appalled to see an article in the Huff Post saying that the CDC's standards for barrier nursing were below that of the Medcins Sans Frontieres – whilst I love MSF, I was horrified to see that the CDC's standards were just not good enough, the CDC's standards left skin exposed and ordinary footwear and trousers worn, exposing the nurses to risk – those poor nurses!

I have a friend who has done barrier nursing in the past and she says that you have to be very, very strictly trained to it so that every gesture guards you, especially when taking the barrrier gear off – when there should be a second and/or  third party present to help, to spray you with chlorine and to remove the gear so there is no chance of the virus getting to you.  Sounds sensible to me!

God bless and protect Elizabeth Warren and all like her!

  5. I can't do the puzzle on this computer, I'll come back, but may not report LOL.

Daily Kos – Does even he know what he's mad about?  Or is it so chronic that he can't do anything else but be mad?

    Democrats Unite – Thanks.

YouTube – You know, I was thinking these last couple of weeks that I will believe the economy is recovered when my local classical radio station, not an NPR affiliate, can go back to the four and five day fund drives it was having before the crash instead of the four and five week ones it is having now, for roughly the same amount of money.  I hardly need to read and discuss the Dow or how many (s**t) jobs we added, or who died in their car between shifts, when I have that obvious measure.

    Nameless, have a safe trip!

TC, cats have been mknown to – um – mark things too, and it isn't always a compliment.  I had one cat, a female, who was a real "potty mouth" who if she was angry with you made sure you saw her pretending to pee in your shoes.  She only pretended, but she did so with very convincing wiggles.  (The funniest thing she ever did – she was unhappy with another cat, so she jumped on his back, bit his neck, and ran off.  You could almost hear the expletive.  He was stunned – coul;dn't think of anything to do but stop dead in his tracks and wash his behind.)

Jim, signed the petition, thanks for the link!

  6. Daily Kos: “Leaders from California’s union and its partner in lobbying, National Nurses United, are quick to label the problems with training as a symptom of the country’s fragmented health care system. The CDC issues guidelines, state departments of public health pass them on, then it’s up to each hospital to take it from there.”

“The unions say fragmentation and a lack of protocols are the reasons two nurses at Dallas’ Texas Health Presbyterian hospital were infected with Ebola.”

Remember that Texas is one of a number of states that have flatly refused ACA and are interested in its own interpretation of medical needs of its own people.

Could not bring myself to listen to 12 1/2 minutes of Louie Gohmert and Glenn Beck interview. I do not want to “contaminate” my intelligence with their drivel. lol.

Support our nurses. They do incredible works with the tools they are trained and given.

While I have done isolation training and skilled nursing in it, the barrier nursing techniques is way above anything I have ever seen nor done . CDC will be getting its act together soon with the advent of better and improved standards, perhaps adopting and utilizing the “Médecins Sans Frontières” standards.

Democrats Unite: The one I remember the most is the infamous “legitimate rape”. 10) “First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” – Todd Akin August 2012. Akin eventually lost his re-election bid in 2012.

  7. "the so-called “Saturday Night Massacre” came on October 20, 1973, when embattled President Richard Nixon fired Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox and accepted the resignations of Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus." But the funny part is they were all RepubliCONs anyway..

  8. "The Republican response to getting caught is even worse now,"

Of course it is; they've had plenty of practice.

  9. Puzzle — 3:16  Wasn't me Jerry.  I was right beside you!  That darn cat just wanted a snack!

FF — At this point, I am in the midst of the final game of the week, but it looks like the top 3 teams all lost this week to teams further down the roster.  I think the standings will change little but the stats of course will change.

    Daily Kos — Goh-merde is sooooo wrong! . . . as usual!

"It’s a shame that the CDC head, Frieden, is apparently the new commander of the Democrats’ war on women nurses," Gohmert told Beck. "Because, goodnight, they set them up, and then they throw them under the bus."

It wasn't the CDC that threw the nurses under the bus, but rather Texas Republicanus/Teabaggers who didn't sign up for the Medicaid expansion; who don't properly fund healthcare for their own citizens!  And typical to Republicanus/Teabagger fashion, Goh-merde is politicising the situation of these 2 nurses in hopes of making some points.  All he did was make himself and Beck look like major fools . . . which we already knew they were!

Liberals Unite — Well, well! . . . That's a deep hole in the ground, an excellent place for ALL Republicanus/Teabaggers.  My only concern is that the list needs to be updated to more recent outrages with which people will be more familiar.

YouTube — Go Liz!  There is no doubt in my mind that the US needs a Democrat dominated Congress, a Democrat president, and Liz tearing up the turf around Wall Street.

Cartoon — Assumed that this had something to do with Watergate so I googled it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Night_Massacre

It was Nixon trying to cover his ass when he was being asked to testify about the tapes.  Proof that "shit flows downhill" but when it hits bottom, the splash back can be fierce as Nixon finally found out.

  10. Ihope they gave you a cup of Repubglicon.

Daily Kos:  Gohmert gets crazier and crazier.

Democrats Unite:  If I were not all ready planning to vote, these ten would make me rush to the polls.  Shared this on Facebook.

Youtube:  We need about sixty more of Elizabeth!

Cartoon:  Little good did he do himself by the Saturday Night Massacre.

  11. Thanks all.  See personal update.
