I’m writing for tomorrow, day 164.  I spent most of the day collecting and formatting data for the Monthly Report.  I also spent some time at Care2 deleting a bunch of “friends” that do not seem to be there anymore.  It has gotten so bad that I have to delete over two hundred notices a day in my email that my eCard (used to forwards links) from a couple days earlier had not been picked up.  If you’re reading this, and I deleted you by accident, appease add me again.  Store to Door will be delivering groceries this afternoon.  I have an extra large order to put away, because I had no delivery last week.  I was doing prison-volunteer work.  Tomorrow is my physical with fasting blood work with my primary care physician.  I will be leaving early in the morning.  God only knows when the Lift bus will get me back.  So in all probability, I will have only a Personal Update for Friday.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:05 (average 5:33).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Upworthy: Wendell Pierce, who played one of my favorite cops on HBO’s "The Wire," decided to share this personal story of the day he was dressed in a suit, had two toddlers in the backseat of his car, and was heading to a funeral. It was 100 degrees outside, he had the air-conditioner on and a police officer pulled him over. At 0:47, he starts sharing his story. At 2:28, he gets to the heart of the matter.

Ludicrous as that story is, it’s actually mild compared to other’s we’ve heard of late. Perhaps out police have been getting their information from Faux Noise. That would explain why they are so afraid.

From the New Yorker: President Barack Obama has decided to move his family into a full-service doorman building in Washington, D.C., saying that “it just makes more sense right now.”

“It really will work better for us,” Obama said in a press conference Tuesday morning. “In addition to the doorman, there’s a guy at the front desk, and, if anyone comes to see you, the desk guy will call up to your apartment first to make sure it’s O.K.”

The senior doorman at the Obamas’ new building, Alex Kornash, seemed unfazed about providing security for the President. “I’ve been a doorman for twenty-three years,” Kornash said. “Someone doesn’t belong here, you tell them to go away. What’s so hard about that?”

Sure, Andy’s being funny, but in light of recent events, it might actually be a pretty good idea!

From Daily Kos: Within minutes of the Kansas Supreme Court’s decision to leave Democrat Chad Taylor off the Kansas ballot for U.S. Senate (dealing a blow to Kris Kobach–worst secretary of state in the nation) a Kansas City-area Democrat named David Orel filed a challenge trying to force Democrats to name a new candidate. David Orel also happens to be the father of a Alexander Orel, regional director for ultra-conservative Sam Brownback’s re-election campaign.

Kris Kobach once again tried to intervene by joining the lawsuit, but the district court ruled against him and refused to let him join the suit.

Kris Kobach’s week was about to get worse. Yesterday, David Orel was set to have his day in court, but his case took a serious hit after he failed to appear before the Shawnee County District Court:

Poor Kobitch! Could it be that this so-called Democrat, who I have no doubt just registers that way, misses the court date, because someone forgot to remove his fur lined handcuffs, after rewarding him for his intended perjury with Gov. Brownback’s toy collection.

  1. What building is this in the cartoon…?

  2. 5:19 average down to 5:23.  Colorful plant, colorful common name – "staghorn sumac."

Of course you won't know the results of your blood work right away.  I hope it turns out that only one thing is off, it's easily tweaked, and that tweaking it resolves your sleep cycle.

Upworthy – This – um – "officer"'s actions almost make the Secret Service look professional.

New Yorker – Perhaps if we gave the Secret Service back to the Treasury it might help.  I have not trusted DHS since it was formed.  Is anyone besides me wondering now how much counterfeit money might be in circulation that we don't know about?  (P.S. I also have never trusted the CIA and the last time I trusted the FBI, Efrem Zimbalist Jr still worked there [SNARK!])

Daily Kos – Looking better for Greg Orman.  Also for the possibility of Schdorf ousting Kobach – at least we can hope.

Cartoon – I don't recognize it either.  Is it one of the Koch homes?

  3. 3:27 I fell short just like the leaves in my yard.

  4. Upworthy – TC this story, very bad though it is (two toddlers witnessing this!) thank goodness he didn't get shot by that stupid policeman.  I am sure that you are right TC that the police are all **** scared that they are going to get shot – which is why some of them them are trigger happy – it is when we are afraid that mistakes happen, and if a mistake happens when a person is holding a gun, someone gets hurt.  You are absolutely correct – they should all be forbidden to watch Pox News and the really nervous ones should be re-educated somewhere calm till they get to be calm and competent – after all they are a danger even to their fellows.

I do hope you get through your prolonged fast OK – do you have any things to normalise your blood sugar such as Chromium capsules or tablets that you could take after the blood sample has been taken?  They might help.

I love Andy – and it seems quite a good idea too!

Daily Kos – hooray – things are looking up for poor Kansas!

  5. You can delete me on Care2. I doubt I will ever go back there. I've already explained why in the other post today. I didn't realize you addressed that site here.

Upworthy ~ Perhaps the police are getting their training from the KKK or some other White Supremacy group?

New Yorker ~ They do provide excellent security for their residents, better than in the White House lately.

Daily Kos ~ When this election is over, maybe they wil wish they weren't in Kansas anymore.

Cartoon ~ Is it the back view of the White House? Or a Kock House?

  6. Why are the cops so jumpy regarding black people? I know it’s not new, but at some point, the cops should be professional enough to not shoot anyone with other-than-white skin!!
Love Andy’s take on the recent breach of security at the WH. He always has a fresh take on stuff we have heard over and over again, ad nauseum. If the Secret Service would just start doing their job, we all might sleep a little easier!
Thanks, TC. I enjoy every story and post you put out, dude!
I hope our Team will make a fantastic splash on their day!! I’m not sure what day they play, though!
Hope you labs come out better and you can get better sleeps!!

8 Major Blunders By Obama’s Secret Service That Should Terrify You + VIDEO

    • Thanks for the link, Jim.  I read it, and it gives me chills to know that the people who are supposed to be protecting our President are so lax.

  8. Jim Phillips, this is the cleverly disguised Elites Capitol House!

  9. I hope your day is better than you anticipate.

Upworthy:  Racism, apparently, will never die. How do we eliminate it?  Racism is not only a southern problem, it exists all over our country, and it reared its ugly head when Pres. Obama was elected. I learned that people I have known my whole life were racists after his election.  Will more education help? It sickens me.

The New Yorker:  In light of recent events, we should find out why the heck the Secret Service isn't doing its job!

Daily Kos:  In this case, a screw up is a good thing.  If the independent is elected in Kansas, that will be one less Republican in the Senate.

Cartoon:  I didn't recognize the building, either, but I checked Nameless's link.  Still don't understand.

  10. Puzzle — 3:21  I'd rather see the leaves change colour and fall, than me fall and change colour as a result. I damn near fell on my kiester, again!

Personal — After 3 weeks of crutches and confirmation that I have even more avulsion fractures than first thought, I have a walking cast for at least another 6 weeks.  Unfortunately, as a result of relying on my left leg so much, I now have a knee problem from the added stress.  Oh well, it could be worse . . . I could have a Republicanus/Teabagger representative.  I take that back, I have a Conservative MP which is just as bad.  Damn!

Upworthy — Disgusting!!!  This racist attitude beggars belief, yet it is!  That officer should either be subjected to additional training and coaching, or he should be dumped from the force.  It doesn't help that this was in Louisiana.  I don't know what the general guidelines are for American police officers, but I do know that for the RCMP and Vancouver city police, recruiters are looking for people with university degrees among other qualities.  They want constables that are capable of critical thinking.

The New Yorker — At first I didn't notice that this was from The New Yorker and I thought "what the hell . . . ".  Andy had me going for a moment.  I think it is a national lampoon of the Secret Service and they only have themselves to blame.

Daily Kos — Those Republicanus/Teabaggers sure are nervous about the election . . . maybe even "pissing their pants" scared that they might lose.  Is there any doubt that the Republicanus/Teabaggers are fraudsters and thieves?!

Cartoon — Thanks Nameless for telling us where and what it is!  I watched a short clip of Bill Maher and Colin Powell.  Powell affirmed his Republican status but also said that he has tried to tell the party that they have to be more inclusive and stop waging war on various groups like minorities, women and the poor.  They will never be able to stop their petty wars because they are so full of themselves and of hate.

    • Lynn, I'm sure mine are only a small part of the prayers and good thoughts you are in.  Hang in there.

      • Thanks JD!  I am trucking along but it does get frustrating.  I am amazed that my moods are pretty good, despite the frustration.  I have a "team" helping me deal with depression and they are pleased that I haven't pulled the blankets over my head yet!

  11. Thanks all.  It's just a generic mansion.  Aly 0,1% billionaire might live there.
