I’m writing for tomorrow, day 121.  My COPD is still seasonally severe.  I’m feeling quite tired, after having to work through some issues with MS Update, cleaning the kitchen area, and vacuuming.  Now I’m waiting for Store to Door to arrive with groceries, which I have to put away.  Since I’m already running on fumes, this is tomorrow’s only article.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:55 (average 5:02:).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: After the Safe Carry Protection Act passed in Georgia, many of us made the sarcastic remark, "What could possibly go wrong?’ Well, Saturday night something did. In the picturesque tourist town of Helen in the North Georgia mountains, a woman died as the result of a stray bullet which had already penetrated the shooter’s hand as he stood outside a bar across the street from her.

The German Alpine themed small town hosts many bars and is a popular tourist destination. The streets can be crowded on weekends and during the yearly Oktoberfest celebrations. Drinking is one popular pastime and set the scene for Saturday’s tragedy.

The shooter is a 53 year old man with a previous drunk driving conviction in 1999. He was outside a bar when the shooting occurred. He was found sitting on a bench with his injured hand. The woman his bullet found lay on the sidewalk across the street, dead at the scene, surrounded by family and friends, some of them children.

It’s bad enough when Gunny Boo Boo and his Republican Ammosexuals shoot themselves and each other. This is thoroughly unacceptable. Charge the Republican Party with Manslaughter.

From The New Yorker: Lashing out at what he called the “Soviet-style” tactics of the indictments against him, Texas Governor Rick Perry said on Tuesday that the government had “grossly overstepped its traditional role of mandating transvaginal ultrasounds.”

Speaking to supporters in Austin, Perry blasted the indictments and called for a return to an era of limited government that focusses on requiring gynecological procedures.

“We are living in dark days indeed when the state of Texas is spending time and money probing its officials instead of its women,”…

I trust Andy would agree that Perry should be "personally" probed with a cattle prod.

From TPM: The government shutdown battles are poised to make a comeback if Republicans win control of the Senate this fall.Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) promised in no uncertain terms that he’d use must-pass spending bills to force confrontations with President Barack Obama over policy reforms if he’s elected majority leader.

First, get out the vote in Kentucky to defeat Bought Bitch Mitch. Second, get out the vote everywhere else to defeat the Republican Reich!

  1. 6:45  I had a horse step on my foot once.

Daily Kos – Georgia has a German Alpine themed small town?  Who knew?

New Yorker – I know many are saying Perry needs a transvaginal ultrasound himself.  My only question is, should a nearby orifice be used, or should he be ripped a new one?

TPM – Yet there are still people talking about "gridlock in Washington" as if it had no ownership.  Sigh.  Yes indeed, get the vote out.

  2. 4:01 This old gray mare is draggin' around the paddock today.

  3. Daily Kos ~ The problem with "open Carry" is the ammo-nuts shoot innocent by-standers instead of each other.

New Yorker ~ Good Andy! I think Perry is doubly bothered by the indictments because they were issued by a WOMAN!

TPM ~ What gives Bought Bitch Mitch the crazy idea that he will still be in the Senate to carry out his evil plan?

Cartoon ~ Bad TomCat! Get out of the fridge. That milk isn't for you.

  4. Oh Perry, you smooth tongue,d devil! Seems to have not just foot in mouth disease, but his whole body in there!.

Now for a thought , a VERY serious thought.

Yet another victim of the Bush and Cheney,et.al. LIARS war. JAMES FOLEY, joins the many thousands whose lives were ended by a bunch of greedy liars in 2003!.Chaos in the middle east ensued..

How that bunch sleep at night is beyond my understanding!.

My deepest condolences to his family.

  5. Puzzle — 3:11  Looks like Mr Ed and his sweetie pie!

Daily Kos — Drugs and alcohol don't mix.  Guns are just another type of drug in many ways.  Some people are so addicted to their drug of choice, a gun, that I am sure they take them into the loo with them or sleep with one in a holster strapped around the waist.  It seems to almost be a national mental illness.  My sympathies to the murdered woman's family.

The New Yorker — "…Perry should be "personally" probed with a cattle prod." — Yeah, where the sun doen't shine!  LMAO TC!  I'd buy a ticket to that event.

TPM — Either in an article I read this morning or in an e-mail, there were a whole list of things that McTurtle would force in addition to shutting down the government if the Republicanus/Teabaggers take the Senate.  Things like repealing Obamacare, privatising social security and the list goes on.  These asswipes don't give a damn about the American people they claim to represent and who stupidly elected them.  The Republicnus/Teabaggers should be listed on the SPLC's list of hate groups and be declared domestic terrorists.

Cartoon — Groceries are supposed to last a week or two so get out of the fridge TC!

  6. Boy, does that Tuxedo cat in the fridge look like my Nike

…. Then again, ALL tuxedo cats tend to look alike.

  7. I hope you got all your chores done and got some rest.

Daily Kos:  How many more innocent people have to be slaughtered before this country wakes up and stops the nonsense about gun freedom?  I really don't want to be in a restaurant or store where every other nut is carrying a gun!

The New Yorker:  Would that Perry would get his just rewards!

TPM:  I am doing all that I can to Ditch Mitch.  His "war on coal" rhetoric, sadly is making great inroads in E Ky where so many coal jobs have been lost.  Since this is the main source of employment in the area, it is hard to convince many that he is self serving and needs to be kicked out.  I have all ready bee unfriended on FB by several who didn't like my Grimes memes.

Cartoon:  Love all your cat cartoons, of course!

    • Chores are self genertating.  Get one gone and another pops up to tazke its place.

What Kentucky needs to realizr is the loss of coal jobs are from increased automation and decreased demand, mostly because of naturel gas.  Regulation had not even made a dent.

      • You and I now that automation and increased demand are the primary causes, but sadly, many people have not time for getting the truth, they listen to faux news

  8. Daily Kos – how awful for that poor woman and her friends and family.  Howver, I sadly think that if the wholesale slaughtering of little children and their teachers won't make a difference to America's lunatic gun laws, I doubt this one will.

New Yorker – does Andy have a bodyguard?  That satire of his draws blood even at this distance – ouch!

  9. I'm addicted to a fantastic BBC-America show called "Orphan Black" – the Perry story sounded like an inside joke: "Perry should be "personally" probed with a cattle prod." On Orphan Black one of the clones, Helena, was subjected to removal & implantation of eggs by an evil doctor – later she broke free & injected him with animal seman..it's great revenge! 😉
