I’m writing for tomorrow, day 97, and I’m feeling almost human again, after sleeping almost all day yesterday.  Unfortunately the dreaded task awaits.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:22 (average 5:22).  To do it click here.  How did you do?

Fantasy Football:

We have our own Fantasy football league on NFL.com called Lefty Blog Friends.  I just learned that one of the players withdrew without notifying me, so we have an opening.  You don’t have to be an expert to play, and it is a lot of fun.  It’s not just for men.  In fact four of our nine players are women.  If you’d like to play, please let me know ASAP.  Our live draft is on Saturday, Aug 16, 2014 at 9:00am PDT.

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: The war between Congress and the White House took a turn for the worse on Friday as House Republicans sought to prevent President Obama from ordering new office supplies.

The House panel that mandated the office-supply freeze denied that it was politically motivated, citing “budgetary concerns.” “It’s time President Obama learned a tough lesson,” House Speaker John Boehner told reporters. “Being President does not entitle you to a spending spree at Staples.”

At the White House, the President blasted the Republicans’ move to strip him of legal pads, pencils, and other office essentials, calling it “just their latest attempt to keep me from doing my job.”

Is Andy covering up Obama’s Kenyan, Socialist, Muslim paper clips?

From Daily Kos: Take a look at what homegrown hatred looks like full stop. This disgusting comment was made by Barry Dile [Republican racist delinked] about a missing 16-year old girl from Tennessee.

No doubt he is a devout follower of Republican Supply-side Jesus (the exact opposite of the real Jesus).

From Think Progress: During a congressional hearing Thursday, Foreign Policy reports, a member of Congress mistakeningly assumed that two senior U.S. government officials were actually representing India.

The Congressman, Rep. Curt Clawson, told the officials “I love your country” and offered to do “anything… to make the relationship with India better.” The officials, Nisha Biswal and Arun Kumar, are both U.S. citizens who work for the Obama administration. Here’s the super awkward exchange:

I found the same video in a format you all can view.

I guess this folks weren’t quite white enough for this Republican racist, but any competent Representative would know who is coming to a hearing in advance.  Republicans are not.

  1. Daily Kos – I don't have the words to describe how horrified, revolted and repulsed I am by Barry Dile's comments – I am ashamed to be a member of a species that can come out with such evil and filth!  Does he have no humanity at all?!  (Sorry – silly question – he patently does not).  I hope Dile's local law enforcement will be looking at any similar crimes near where viile Dile has been and looking to see if he had anything to do with them – out of his own mouth he is patently an instigator of crimes, if not an actual criminal!

Unfortunately it reminds me of a news article elsewhere on C2 that I saw yesterday where an Israeli Professor is advocating rape of female relatives of terrorists to (allegedly) teach them a lesson – has the world passed the point of no-return in disgusting human behaviour?!!  ARRGGHHH!!

  2. 6:23  I shouldn't even try when I have something downloading in the background.

The New Yorker – Wow, this takes me back to when I was in the Marine Corps.  It was during the Viet Nam war, and personal computers weren't even a gleam in anyone's eye (I don't think the Internet was either, but why I think that is a different story.)  Military pay was recorded on a large piece of heavy yellow paper, which every six months had to be totaled, balanced, closed, and a new one opened.  Manually.  Using desk calculators with paper tapes.  Each one had to be see three times, by the enlisted person who did it, an NCO "auditor," and an officer who reviewed and signed every blessed one.  It was the custom to submit the paper tape with the card for audit and approval.  But one December, when money was ungodly tight, partially because the whole country was screaming (and rightly so considering the war) about government waste and partly because our manager was incompetent, we ran ut of tape and could not buy more.  We had to leave the tape in the machines so we could re-roll it and use the back.  (If it was really wide, we could use it again on the front and then twoci on the back.)  I would not be surprised if House Republicans did exactly what Andy describes.  Especially if they go all lawsuit and then get told by the court Boehner has no standing to sue (which of course he doesn't).  They would be just that petty.

Daily Kos – Yes, I saw this.  He is quite a piece of work.  Apparently that is his real name too (though if anyone wants to call him "Barry Vile" I am with you.)  I saw the same story Pat A did on care2, and while I agree it is vile, it was posted by a troll to deliberately stir up anti-Israeli anger, and infortunately succeeded to some degree.  But even the source called the man "right wing."  Unfortunately all countries have these people.  They are not a reason to demonize the country they are in.  Even Barry Vile is no excuse to demonize Tennessee.  Not saying you are, Pat, you are better then that.  But it is a temptation.

Think Progress – Curt Clawson (R, Flo-ri-duh) must have a great career ahead of hi.  The day of that hearing he had been in Congress exactly 30 days, and already he is acting as dumb as Gohmert, Rubio, Paul & Paul, Ryan, Steve King, etc.  And apparently he won the Republican primary, so, in the 19th, he will for sure be reelected.  Gawd.

    Cartoon – You said it.

  3. I'm wondering if the FBI has any intentions to arrest that jerk-off for hate speech? I hope they at least investigate him in connection with the missing girl..Idiots like him are Usually involved (one way or another!)

    • He's hust a Republican spewing hate.  If he had anything to do with it, he would not be talking about her at all.

      • I used to think that way too, but now that people are posting videos of their despicable crimes on Facebook and elsewhere on the 'net, I'm not so sure.

  4. 3:51  Those chains had me bound so I couldn't move any faster!

  5. Puzzle — 3:51  Those chains had me bound so I couldn't move any faster!

The New Yorker — Anything to keep the "Kenyan, socialist, Muslim" from doing the job he was elected to do (twice I might add!) and showing up the Republicanus/Teabager dominated Congress who clearly do not do the job they were elected to do by the people of the US!

Daily Kos — Without doubt, Dile is a most vile and hateful creature.  A link in the article takes you to his facebook page where is says he lives in Plano, Texas but was from Jacksboro, Tennessee.  And everything I saw there leads me to believe that this vile individual likes nothing more than to stir the pot, so to speak.  A number of people have left messages about his despicable comments.

JD, I saw the same posting about the professor but refused to note it.  Here it is: Israeli Professor Proposes Raping Women.  He said: “Terrorists like those who kidnapped the children and killed them — the only thing that deters them is if they know that their sister or their mother will be raped in the event that they are caught."  Clearly he is out to lunch and vile also.  The US uses capital punishment, yet that has no deterrent effect on violent crime.  So with this right wing idiot's proposal.  Any way, enough of these creatures.

Think Progress — Stupid id as stupid does!  I looked it up in the on-line dictionary.  Beside "stupid" it says: US Rep Curt Clawson (R-Fl).  BTW, I could not hear this but went to Think Progress and was able to hear just fine.

Cartoon —  The NRA's favourite commandment!

  6. Glad you are feeling better.

The New Yorker:  I know this is satire, but given the antics of Boner lately, this could happen!

Daily Kos:  What a disgusting person he is!

Think Progress:  Well, that was a big OOPS!  I hope he feels as inept as he looks after that one. He certainly didn't do his homework since he had no idea whom he would be questioning.

Cartoon:  Yep, if you are a guntoting pseudo Christian who worries about fertilized eggs but doesn't give a darn about a living child.
