Every week, Republicans join a competition to see who can say the most outlandish things, and in the process, every week they push the envelope on just how deranged InsaniTEA can become.  I trust that you will believe it, when I tell you that last week was no exception.

Pastor Robert Jeffress is pretty sure Jesus would have built a fence to keep out those kids at the border.

People often ask themselves “What would Jesus do?” for guidance on issues both big and small. Sometimes they ask themselves whether Jesus would have salad or French fries on the side. Right-wing ideologues ask if Jesus prefers AK-47s or some other assault rifle.

One such holy man, Texas megachurch Pastor Robert Jeffress has prayed mightily to the lord and searched his own conscience to find a humane solution to the problem of unaccompanied minors from Central America coming across the border. That’s how much he cares. And he has concluded that what Jesus would do is suggest we build a fence. Maybe this is because Jesus was for a carpenter, and he wants more work.

But it is also because, as Pastor Jeffress told Fox News on Thursday, building a fence is the truly compassionate thing to do.

“What we are doing by having these unsecured borders is we are enticing children and mothers to make this dangerous journey,” the Christian leader said on Fox News this week. “The most compassionate thing we can do is secure the borders.”

Oh, so the whole serving the poor thing, washing their feet, feeding the multitudes and forgiving people their sins, those weren’t the most compassionate things?

No, not according to Pastor Jeffress, who has previously expressed the very compassionate view that President Obama is  preparing the U.S. for the Antichrist

I guess Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians (the exact opposite of authentic Christians) never heard of the Good Samaritan.  The real Jesus would NOT be building a fence.

  1. AlterNet:
    1. Todd Akin: Back again with his infamous "legitimate rape"…

    3. Louie Gohmert: Once again he lives up to his moniker as America's Dumbest Congressman.

    6. Bryan Fischer: "No, not the rainbow-colored wrapper!"
…American Family Association is thinking about issuing an "action alert"…

The others on the list are just as bad… lol.

Cartoon: Says it all for the gop/tp critters.

  2. Todd Akin ~ I'm sorry I apologized. I was right after all because stress causes infertility. Ask any doctor. WHOA!

Brandon Smith " I think in academia we all agree…" Since when does a BA in political science qualify one as being in Academia?

Louis Gohmert~ We all knew it was Pres. Obama's fault He wants to turn Texas blue so he needs those children there to vote.

Peggy Noonan ~ Her politics have gone over the edge in the past 20 years or so. She was always a conservative and wrote some very good speeches for St. Ronnie Ray-Gun but then she really went over to the dark side.

Jeffress – He thinks he is the "voice of Jesus". Get him fitted for a straight jacket quickly please!

Bryan Fischer ~ Will the rainbow wrapper make you gay?

  3. Perhaps I shouldn't pick Bryan Fischer to speak about, because he is such an easy target, but it is definitely tragicomedy when a purported Christian clergyman goes so widely astray from what Jesus actually said.  Did he never read Matthew 15:17-19, or is he just "conveniently" forgetting it?  Or doesn't he understand it?  let me try to put it ito simple modern language that he may just possibly be able to understand:   "Hey, dummy, it's not what goes INTO your mouth that makes you dirty, it's what comes OUT. THAT's where we get all the hijinks, as well as murder, theft, lying, and of course gay-bashing, ya dirtbag."

  4. When I read this article 2 days ago, I figured you'd post it.

Todd Akin — As offensive as his original comment was, at least it benefitted progressives and women by: 1) proving the Republicanus/Teabaggers were really waging a war on women, despite their protestations to the contrary; and 2) he helped put Romney on the run.

Kentucky State Senator Brandon Smith — He is so far out there that I believe he has hit Uranus!

Louis Goh-merde (translation – shit for brains) — I wonder what his 3 daughters think of him and his ramblings? From Wikipedia  "The attorney general will not cast aspersions on my asparagus".  Need anything else be said?  He's in a vegetative state!

Peggy Noonan — The epitome of a Republicanus/Teabagger — misrepresent the truth, or outright lie.  The GOP must be very proud.

Pastor Robert Jeffress — Personally, I am offended that this wack job calls himself a Christian thus getting other people confused — the pseudo Christians versus authentic Christians.

"… Jeffress has prayed mightily to the lord and searched his own conscience to find a humane solution …"

That presumes that Jeffress even has a conscience, which I seriously doubt.  In another piece I read (but of course I can't find now), Jeffress made comments that he was Jesus.  With a whopper like that, why not go straight to the top and the big guy.  Delusional!

Bryan Fischer — . . . versus the Fischer wrapper in all it bland white glory!  Another deluded individual that needs to be proected from himself.

  5. I clicked through, sadly.  I must apologize once again for the ignorance of a Ky lawmaker.  I am not entirely sure it is ignorance because he is so deeply in the pockets of the coal companies this may be a script they told him to read.  He is not one of my state senators, thankfully, both of them are Democrats.

Peggy Noonan has given me heartburn for years, I automatically change channels whenever she is on a show I want to watch.

Akin has shown what a fool he is before, now he has put it in writing.

Gohmert, well I think Lynn gave an accurate description of his name.

Jeffress is another of those pseudo Christians who ascribe the writings in the Bible to whatever he thinks is correct.

Until we can have some REAL education in our schools, this ignorance and bigotry will continue.

  6. Thanks all.  Would you believe I overslept again?  🙁
