I’m writing for tomorrow,  which is almost here.  I had another long full day.  The training was repetitive and boring.  Worst of all, after assuring me weeks ago it would be held on the first floor, they held it on the third.  My friend and I had to carry my walker up two flights of stairs.  I would rather have been working with my guys.  My legs are cramping severely.  At least it’s done.  Day 46.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:51 (average 6:59).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Upworthy: Walmart Workers Capture What It’s Like Being In Their Shoes. It’s Heartbreaking.

Shameful!

From NY Times: The National Rifle Association [Republicans delinked] is distancing itself from an article on its website that called demonstrations by gun rights advocates who brandished weapons in public “scary” and “weird,” and that said such advocates had “crossed the line from enthusiasm to downright foolishness.”

The article [Republicans delinked] and the subsequent denunciations in the past week are an unusual public disagreement inside the N.R.A. about the tactics of protesters, particularly in Texas, who have shown up with shotguns and rifles in parking lots and inside stores and restaurants to assert their right to openly carry firearms.

The gun industry fears their best retail customers, deranged Republican criminals, but fears losing the blood money they spend even more.

From Huffington Post: It would be a mistake to think that the New York Working Families Party’s endorsement of a Wall Street, austerity Democrat — Andrew Cuomo — is a defeat for the surging progressive wing of the Democratic Party. In fact, just the opposite is true. The endorsement was a demonstration of how to build power to do what progressive politics is ultimately about: delivering real improvements in people’s lives.

This article is 100% unadulterated BS! Calling Cuomo a win for progressive power is like calling Bought Bitch Mitch anti-coal. Working Families Party might as well call themselves Working Banksters Party!

  1. For general leg cramps – drink PLENTY of water, and include plenty of potassium, magnesium and calcium in your diet.

  2. 5:18 Scary monsters!

  3. Sorry you had such a terrible time yesterday. Too bad you weren't with your guys instead. But training is done now.

Upworthy ~ Mr. Walton and his Board of Directors never have to do without though. Aren't we all happy for them?

NY Times ~ Have they painted themselvs into a corner yet with their inane tactics?

HuffPo ~ I agree with you totally, TC. They have endorsed Richard Hanna (R) for Congress in my district too.

Cartoon ~ How much is your bail?

  4. 6:24, average up to 7:23.  Late for this year or early for next, ya think?

Upworthy – $25K is little enough, heaven knows.  Some places rent alone costs that much or more.  Shameful hardly begind to describe it.

NY Times – I can't even discuss coherently how crazy this is.  I can just manage to share a cartoon. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/06/04/1303869/-Cartoon-Entitled-manchildren-magazine?detail=email

HuffPo – It certainly does look like a triumph of wishful thinking.  I guess we shall see.

Cartoon – Oh, poor kitty.  Of course in any endeavor where it is important for practitioners to be on the same page (and in the same book) there will be licensing of some sort.  There are always going to be people who don't need any training (and, alas, people whom no amount of trainng could prepare.)  I'm not surprised you didn't learn anything – I'd have been surprised if you did.  But good for you for sticking it out.  Was this the last session?  BTW, nothing works for me fir leg cramps except quinine, which naturally is now illegal.  I just hope you don't hear my screams in Portland when they hit.

  5. Just sharing an article from Care2 about a white Republicanus/Teabagger changing his name to César Chavez.

    http://www.care2.com/causes/white-republican-changes-name-to-cesar-chavez-for-congressional-bid.html

    My comment on the mess:

I changed my name in 1972 to my stepfather's and I had to swear that I was not doing so for any illegal or deceptive reasons. I trust that Fistler had to also swear. To me, if he so swore, then he lied. To say that “experienced many hardships because of [his] name.” is also a matter of perspective. I would say that the "hardships" were that he didn't get his way during a state and civic election . . . in other words, there was no hardship. Another lie! Now he wants to run as a Democrat having renounced his Republicanus/Teabagger membership. Well Republicanus/Teabaggers just don't do that. My bet is that if he were elected as a Democrat, he would immediately shed his Democrat personna and return to the slippery, slimy fold of the Republicanus/Teabaggers. Add to that his totally deceptive website.

The Democrats need to refuse to let him run as a Democrat, no ifs, ands or buts. The election commission, or whatever you call it in the US, needs to expose this guy as the fraud he is. Anybody doing all this does not deserve the trust of the people. Truly, his actions tell me that he is a bona fide Republicanus/Teabagger clear through to his black soul.

And Wilson . . . don't get me started on that asswipe. It is very clear by his actions that he is a Republicanus/Teabagger.

THE ONLY GOOD REPUBLICANUS/TEABAGGER IS AN UNEMPLOYED REPUBLICANUS/TEABAGGER!!!

Roll 'em back!  Roll 'em back! Way, way back!

  6. A three story building should have an elevator, they are violating the disabilties act..

Upworthy:  Shame, indeed.  Wal Mart sucks the life out of its employees.  I try not to go  there but I live in a rural area and they put almost all the locals out of business.  The people who work for them do so because they have no choice if they need a job.

NY Times:  The NRa only exists to promote the gun manufacturers.  The Daily Show had a great take off on this change of heart.  They knew it was wrong for those guys to take their guns into a restaurant until the gun lobby told them otherwise.

Huffpo:  The article sounded reasonable until I read your comment, TC.  Mitch as anti coal would be the most impossible thing ever.

Cartoon:  So sorry you got trapped.

  7. Puzzle — 4:42  That was more than scarey!  That was a bitch with lines and colours going all over the place.

Upworthy — Disgusting and disheartening!  I went to http://www.walmarteconomy.com and signed the petition.

I refuse to shop at Walmart!!!  err . . . WalFart!  One day I needed to get some pull ups for my elderly mother in size XL, and get them right now.  I couldn't get them at Costco, the grocery store, or my pharmacy and was told to try Walmart.  When I went in, I felt dirty and ashamed to be there.  I now have an arrangement with my pharmacy to order in the goods and I often get them on sale at WalFart prices, or cheaper.

I'd like to see the IRS bill Walmart for all the SNAP benefits that Walmart employees receive plus a penalty until they start paying a living wage and R-E-S-P-E-C-T employees and their families.

Stand up strong!  I'm with you!

NY Times — "The gun industry fears their best retail customers, deranged Republican criminals, but fears losing the blood money they spend even more."  — Ain't that the truth!!!

This week in Moncton, New Brunswick, 3 RCMP constables were murdered and 2 more seriously wounded by a suspect wearing camouflage and carrying several rifles and ammunition.  After more than 30 hours searching for the suspect, he was finally arrested in the woods in a residential neighbourhood.  The suspect has no history with the RCMP so they are at a loss to explain his actions at this time.  Although he was unarmed when arrested, police recovered the rifles and ammunition in the woods.

This is something that we do not expect here north of the border.  When I was at physio today, I recognised one of the clients (in civies) as a local constable.  We had a brief chat about guns.  I would like to see them banned, period.  His comment:  there isn't the political will.  Figures — Harper is a Republican.

Further he said they are seeing more guns coming up from the US, and that is scarey.  He expects that the violence in Canada will escalate.  That is not my country that I love!

Huffington Post — I wanted more information on this Working Families Party so of course Wikipedia had enough to give me the flavour. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_Families_Party

"The Working Families Party (WFP) is a minor political party in the United States founded in New York in 1998. There are active chapters in New York, Connecticut, and Oregon, as well as efforts in South Carolina, Delaware, and Vermont, and offshoots in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

New York's Working Families Party was first organized in 1998 by a coalition of labor unions, community organizations, members of the now-inactive national New Party, and a variety of public interest groups such as Citizen Action of New York and Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The party's main concerns are jobs, healthcare, raising the minimum wage, universal paid sick days, the student debt crisis, winning higher taxes on the rich, defending public education and energy/environment reform. It has usually cross-endorsed progressive Democratic or Republican candidates through fusion voting, but will occasionally run its own candidates.

The state directors of the WFP are Bill Lipton (NY), Lindsay Farrell (CT), and Steve Hughes (OR). Some of the party's most prominent endorsed candidates include United States Senators Chris Murphy (CT) and Jeff Merkley (OR), New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy, and New York City Public Advocate Letitia James."

I don't know Cuomo but in reading a Wiki bio, it seems that his early years were spent in social areas. In listening to Patty's and other views of Cuomo, it seems his fire may have been put out by the influence of daddy's money as well as his own.  But I bow to your knowledge.

Cartoon — What!  Did you get thrown in the slammer for stealing kibble from the other cats?  Poor puddy tat!  What's your bail?  Maybe we can come up for a buck or two.

    • Thanks, Lynn, I didn't know anything about the party either, but was too lazy to look.

  8. Caught in the catnip again! 🙁
