I’m writing for tomorrow, early on Christmas morning, because there will be no time later in the day, if I don’t get it done now. No matter what your faith, I hope your Christmas has been everything you hoped it would be.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:42 (average 5:33).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Bill Moyers: BillMoyers.com’s Most Popular Segments of 2013

Click through for an incredibly good collection of video clips.

From Crooks and Liars: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) spent the Senate’s last day in session in 2013 in the hospital due to what doctors diagnosed as exhaustion.

Reid is a hard worker, but how ironic is it that he was fatigued by presiding over half of what has been the least productive year of Congress in history?

In the first of its two years the 113th Congress passed fewer than 60 bills, far less than the 395 passed by what President Harry Truman called the “Do Nothing Congress” of 1947.

It’s less than the 90 bills passed in 2011, when a Republican takeover of the House [Faux Noise delinked] left a divided Congress that set the previous mark for dysfunction.

Poor Harry! Having to swing those ObamaBalls is really hard! 😉

From Raw Story: It was a big year for bigots of all stripes, but particularly for anti-LGBT bigots. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to strike down 1996′s federal anti-LGBT statute — the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) — and declare California’s Proposition 8 unconstitutional inspired America’s anti-LGBT jerkwads to a whole new level of hateful excellence.

This year, they proclaimed that “traditional marriage” is in danger and that the LGBT shock troops are going to force everyone to get same sex married. They declared that Christians are going to be rounded up and put into camps (if only!) and that the future will be nothing more than a fabulous Gucci jackboot stamping on a human face…forever.

Here are Raw Story’s nominees for the Top Five anti-LGBT assholes of the year, as well as some mitigating factors about each one and our proposed punishments for each offender.

Click through for a thoroughly disgusting collection of Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian hate mongers.

  1. 4:44 I couldn't get in gear today.

  2. 4:55  I didn't see any candy.

Moyers:  I have him on my pop-up calendar now so I won't miss an episode.  And Kleenex by the TV.  Since he deals only in truth.  And the truth is depressing.

Crooks and Liars:  Hey, if I had to deal with who Harry has to deal with, I would be at least hospitalized, if not dead.  But yes, it is ironic.

Raw Story:  Yes, yuppie-in-drag Phil made Alternet's list too.  Or maybe I should say his supporters did. http://www.alternet.org/tea-party-and-right/10-ways-right-wingers-went-cuckoo-week-duck-dynasty-meltdown-edition?paging=off&current_page=1#bookmark  Do you suppose the reason that bigots are terrified of being rounded up and put into camps is because that's what they would do to gays if they could?  Gays don't want to force anyone to marry anyone.  Why do (some) straights?

Cartoon: So is Santa going to do nothing for 11 months?  Is he in Congress?

    • That's because Jerry ate it all!

      It sure can be.

      Amen to that!

It's projerction.  They accuse us of doing what they do or would do.

Nope.  Santa worked for a month.

    • ~~1. Conservative Hootenanny Over Firing of Duck Dynasty Star

      Whoa, they're Nucking Futs… 😆

  3. I hope your Christmas dinner went well and that all had a great day.

Bill Moyers:  I bookmarked this so I can read and watch each of the episodes.  So proud that Wendell Berry is a Kentuckian and stands up to the Reds in our state.

Crooks and Liars:  All the compromising he has done would wear out anybody.

Raw Story:  There should be more than five, but Scalia is the worst. He should be forced off the Supreme Court because he is not qualified to be there.

  4. I'd like to see more details about those traditional marriages that have been destroyed by gay marriages.

And then compare them to what happened when divorce was made legal.

  5.   As per usual …lately…I'm late.  Yes, poor Harry…of-course he was exhausted.! He's been so busy trying to "herd donkeys" and chasing the "crazies back into their cages…well we all know the crap he's been putting up with…it's a wonder anything at all got done.

I'm sick of the pseudo christian crap the RWNJ / teabaggers /Repubs /good'ol boys & all those nuts keep polluting the airways with …wish they would all go visit their god in hell & stay there……what did I miss I'm not awake yet.

  6. ~~In the first of its two years the 113th Congress passed fewer than 60 bills,

Remove their free tax payer funded Health Care… 👿

  7. TC – am dashing into PP today (Sunday 29th) for a few precious minutes as today for a few hours the weather is calm AND the broadband repaired – more storms tonight and tomorrow and Tuesday and Wednesday – about 10,000 people in the UK still don't have electricity here and haven't had electricity since Christmas Eve – unprecedented in this country, and many thousands are still trying to clear up after floods – which may come again as more rain due with the storms today and for the next three days, may God bring good out of evil and may people discover the joy of helping others and find truth, love and joy in others.

Thanks for the Bill Moyers extracts – he is a marvel – and it is a joy to be reminded of Wendell Berry who is remarkable – may we all emulate him as far as we can in our lives.

Love the Santa photo and caption – gorgeous!

Am off to check next door's drains – their drains are higher than mine and if they block then I get flooded so I can't have that – so I keep checking them (they never do).
