I’m writing for tomorrow and working on a sleep deficit because Guitar Man decided to be Bongo Man.  Argh!  Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are meditating with Dallas, but I don’t know whether it will be televised here.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:55 (average 5:16).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Upworthy: TSA Announces New Screening Program. Comedian Has Hilarious, Helpful Suggestions.

Funny, but enlightening. For airport security, Sikh and ye shall find.

From NY Times: The Republican Party of Rhode Island is attracting well-deserved scorn for its plan to raise money Sunday by raffling an AR-15-style assault rifle — the same sort of modified military weapon used last December in the Newtown school massacre in neighboring Connecticut.

The rifle is the main prize at the state Republican Party’s “2nd Amendment celebration” at a rod and gun club in West Greenwich — “a family day at the range full of targets, food, prizes and fun,” but truly devoid of even rudimentary sensitivity to the carnage inflicted on Americans from weapons devised not for sport but for the battlefield.

With Republicans, some things just never change.

From MSNBC: Democrats sue to stop Republican election theft in VA.

If somebody is going to purge voter rolls, the time to do it is NOT a month before an election. I bet a dollar against a donut that there were not a hell of a lot of white faces in that purge list.

Judge Republican intent accordingly.

"You think brown people will pretend it didn't happen for $85 dollars? Checklist, all brown people get this new precheck program for free, List was written in 2002"… Priceless 🙂

I believe it's criminal to disallow Americans to Vote, stealing an election is too…

  3. In view of yesterday's Open Thread cartoon, I thought this petition was so spot on:

    http://act.credoaction.com/sign/boehner_pacifier/?sp_ref=12415193.4.772.e.3278.2

"Our nation cannot afford to be held hostage by the irresponsible and immature actions of members of your party. As speaker of the House, it's time for you to act like an adult, and call a vote on a clean budget resolution."

Over 173,000 people have signed so far with the goal of 200,000!  Let's help Credo take it over the top!

  4. 3:39  Love me the speedboats.  When I was a kid, a neighbor had one just like those.

  5. OK, you guys … I'm counting on you to harass TomCat in my stead for the next couple of weeks since I won't be able to while I'm gone.

Since my about-to-be 97 y/o Mom's diagnosis with cancer almost five years ago (in remission) , followed by  her stroke (expressive aphasia – but sharp as a tack & still able to do math in her head faster than I can on a calculator), followed by her fractured hip & hip replacement, followed by two cardiac stents, followeb by her pacemaker placement .. BUT still living by herself in a two-story home (Lord, I hope I drew from HER gene pool) – well, I haven't traveled a lot except up to Illinois for her "routine maintenance".

BUT I'm taking a couple of weeks off (and leaving the cat at my Mom's to "catsit" since she loves the little guy) while I visit friends in NYC and then my nephew & family in San Francisco.

So I'm counting on you to keep TC in line.  Lord knows he needs it!

    I'm taking a

    • Have a great vacation.  I wish my Mom had your Mom's genes.

    • Give your mum a BIG hug from me and my 3 furbabes — Primo, Winnie (Winston), and Annie (Annabelle). Your mum truly is remarkable, and has a remarkable son to boot!  I take it that you told the cat that he will be grandma sitting!

Enjoy your coast to coast jaunt with family and friends.  We will properly harass Mr Tom Cat, but guaranteed it won't be the same.  We'll be here when you get back!  Safe trip!!!

    • Have a great vacation, Nameless, and please convet my best to your mom, thanking her for the gift she gave us.

  6. Upworthy:  For some reason, U tube isn't letting me hear anything, not just here, either. No sound from them.

NY Times:  they are showing all the sensitivity Republicans are famous for.

MSNBC:  Have politicians always been this unscrupulous and I just didn't realize it?

    Cartoon:  Amen

Kudos to our Gov, Steve Breasher, for standing up to McTurtle, and Paul, Idiot of Paul.

    • Edie, I don't know why it does that, but movwe the speaker skideron the video frame up.

      Amen!

Yes, but to a lesser degree.

      Hear, hear!

  7. Puzzle — 3:45  Hey Speedy Gonzales, wait for me!

Upworthy — I am so accustomed to seeing Sikhs and other South-east Asians everywhere here that it is hard to believe, but not impossible, that South-east Asians are singled out and discriminated against so prolifically in the US.  Don't get me wrong, Canada has more than enough cases of racism to go around, but really . . .

NY Times — On Sunday morning, Rhode Island Republicanus/Teabaggers go to church; listen to a sermon on the 6th commandment (Thou shall not kill); then off to the rod and gun club with the kids in tow for the Republicanus/Teabagger party's “2nd Amendment celebration” to have some lunch and pickup some raffle tickets for an AR-15 military assault rifle.  The perfect Sunday family day.  Now wait for Dick and Jane, playing with Spot and Puff, to "accidently" discharge the damn thing and kill someone.  So much for "Thou shall not kill."

MSNBC — I sure hope that through the lawsuit the purged voters are added back.  Just the purge in Fairfax County alone should be enough to tell the courts that this purge is an election fraud tactic orchestrated by the Republicanus/Teabaggers.  Add to that the timing and election fraud, in my mind, is a slam dunk!  Typical Republicanus/Teabagger teabuggery!  Time for a thorough house cleaning — every room (state) in the castle (country) wiped clean and disinfected of Republicanus/Teabaggers!

    Cartoon — History repeats itself . . . again!

    • I'm lost in the wake.

At least in Canada, it is not actively endorsed by a political party.

For Republicans the 6th only referrs to killing white folks.

      Amen!
      Thanks!

  8. Thanks TC!
