I’m writing for tomorrow, and since there is only one story dominating the news, everything today relates to the anti-American attempt at minority rule by the Republican Party.  However, I will take a short break from it this evening for religious meditation in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:28 (average 4:06).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Upworthy: Senator Warren decided to get to the brass tacks about what this government shutdown is actually going to do to the country. She doesn’t mince words.

She sure tells it like it is!!

From The New Yorker: Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) said that he was disappointed after meeting with President Obama at the White House on Wednesday afternoon, telling reporters, “The President is stubbornly refusing to end the crisis I created.”

“Government is about teamwork,” Mr. Boehner continued. “I’ve done my part by putting together an entirely optional crisis that has shut down the government and will throw thousands out of work. Now it’s up to the President to do his part by ending it.”

Mr. Boehner said that he was “flabbergasted” that the President was looking to him to bring the current government shutdown to an end: “So after doing all of the hard work to push the country to the brink, I’m supposed to pull it back, too? How about you pitching in a little, Mr. President?”

The House Speaker said that he hoped he did not have to manufacture an another entirely avoidable crisis over the debt ceiling in order to stir the President to action…

Andy’s 100% satire reflects the entire truth.

From Alternet: Sen. Mitch McConnell, Kentucky: “The president is more than willing to negotiate with the Iranians. I don’t know why he isn’t willing to negotiate with us.”

Are you sure that you want to compare Congressional Republicans to hardline mullahs? I think we’re beginning to understand which group is the more reasonable.

This is just one of ten "remarkably stupid" Republican statements about the Republican Shutdown abd ObamaCare. Click through for the other nine. Republicans or the most rabid bloodthirsty mullahs? The latter are the more reasonable by far!

  1. 2:59 I'm in a state of Euphoria after finishing the Euphorbia.

  2. ~ 5:12

Senator Warren decided to get to the brass tacks about what this government shutdown is actually going to do to the country.

I will always support Senator Warren and I urge all to do the same.

  3. Is Canada's Oil Industry controlled, Conservative government working with the Tea Party Republicans in order to get Keystone XL pipeline approved by Obama

    http://www.buckdogpolitics.blogspot.ca/2013/10/are-stephen-harper-and-conservatives.html

    • I have no doubt at all that the Rt disHonourable Stephen Harper is working with Republican/Teabaggers to lobby the POTUS for the approval of the Keystone XL.  Various cabinet members have been in Washington and New York connecting with US business leaders and government officials.  Also, Harper's constituency is in Alberta oil country so he has a vested economic interest.  Harper has said in various ways that he doubts climate change.

      • Stephen Harper is Canada's Right Wing burden for a while yet .. but we are confident that he will be tossed out in the next Federal election!

        • Yeah, 2015 which can't come soon enough for me!  I wish I had your confidence that Harper and his harlots will be burned toast next time around.  I am in James Moore's constituency and I can't stand him.

          • Some of Harper's Gerrymander has been broken up and he could lose 15 – 20 seats just from that. He is also wearing thin in a number of seats that were close last time … I think we could end up with a minority next time … but Harper will go .. (i hope)

    • Hey Dawg!!  I have told Lynn more than ones that when it comes to Canada, you are the place to come.

The Dawg leaves no Harper's Harlot fleas unscratched!!

The thing about US TEAbaggers is that most are such sheeple they believe it, when they are told to think and say that nobody tells them what to think and say, so they just goose-step in whatever direction Big Money points them, and there's a lot of Big Money in Big Oil.

The shutdown is at the "We've got to get something, even if we don't know what it is!" stage, and I bet they'd love to come away with Keystone XL, which I, of course strongly oppose.

Just one request, when you dump Harper, PLEASE don't send him herre!!

  4. Republicans take time for Photo Op with WWII Vets.  Those mean old democrats closed the Parks and Mouments.  Say What?  More stuff is gonna fly while the Shut storm continues on Bull S!#t Mountain.

  5. Upworthy ~ Sorry, RepubuliCons don't like the truth. Elizabeth Warren told the truth.

New Yorker ~ Too close to the truth!

Alternet ~ Each one of the ten statements is a prize winner in my book. You can't make this stuff up.

Cartoon ~ Who needs health care anyways? As long as the Fat Cats in the RepubliCon Party have theirs, the rest of us can go piss up a rope or fall off a cliff, whichever you prefer.

I think we might be in for the long haul this time. Agent Orange is too scared or the Teahadists to go against the. So is McTurtle.

    • Amen!

      Amen!

      Amen!

The Cartoon meant that Republicans were trying ti do tiny fixes for show while leaving mosat of the suffweing untouched.

The longer it goes the more plame they will get.

  6. Alternet – I am speechless.

  7. 7. Rep. William O’Brien (Republican, New Hampshire) : Obamacare is Like the Fugitive Slave Act.

N.H. is an embarrassment to New England…

  8. I like Senator Warren, she always tells it like it is.

The New Yorker sounds like the new reality.  Boehner whining because the pres won't bend over again.

I never have and never will vote for McConnell.  I plead not guilty on this one.

    The cartoon says it all.

  9. Puzzle — 2:58  Pretty in pink!

Upworthy — Go Lizzie!  Direct, truthful and concise.  Even the Republicanus/Teabaggers should have the focus to pay attention and really listen for 5 minutes . . . but they won't.

The New Yorker — AB cracks me up!  "Andy’s 100% satire reflects the entire truth."  And ain't that the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

Alternet — There`s one word that pretty much sums these up — supercilious!  The Republicanus/Teabaggers are a supercilious bunch of old dinosaurs!

    1) Perry is an idiot.  I guess it means nothing that the SCOTUS, that hotbed of conservative judicial activism, has upheld the ACA!

    2) Itsy Bitsy Betsy! . . . and I'm just talking about the space between her ears, not her stature!

    3) McTurtle stepped squarely in that pile of camel scat!

    4) I'd settle for Laura Ingraham bleeding to death from a hangnail.

    5) No Wolf.  There`s a lot of blame to go to Boehner and the RepublicanuséTeabaggers!

    6) Fun?  Yeah, he gets paid no matter what, and hard working federal employees get an unpaid 'vacation'.  What a putz!

    7) Another RepublicanuséTeabagger putz with space for rent between his ears!

    8) No big debate on Obamacare?  What do you call the 43 attempts to repeal the ACA in the House? . . . or the debates before it was passed into law?  Now maybe you have forgotten that you were not a legislator at that time.  You don`t get to go back to debate it or any other bill that was passed before your time!

    9) It`s only insidious because it does away with Republicare and the Republicaire death panels.

    10) Dear Alternet — How about the unnatural disaster called the Republicanus/Teabagger party?

Cartoon — Disingenuous to the max!  Hey Republicanus/Teabaggers, does a $40 billion cut to SNAP ring any bells?

  10. Most of you have probably heard about Dr Tarek Loubani and Professor John Greyson, two Canadians that were arrested in Egypt 16 August 2013.  Subjected to torture, interrogation and inhumane living conditions, they have been held in prison for 45 days, and that detention was just extended by another 45 days, all without charges. They were on their way to Gaza — Dr Loubani to train doctors in emergency medicine proceedures, and Greyson to make a film of Dr Loubani`s work.  These men were on a humanitarian trip, not for the first time, and stopped to help the injured during a night of protests.  What else would a doctor do?

There are 2 petitions on Care2 that I hope you`ll sign . . http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/137/888/989/ which is addressed to the Egyptian Ambassador to Canada and asks for the release of Loubani and Greyson; and

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/933/818/789/demand-the-immediate-release-canadian-detainees/ which I started to demand PM Stephen Harper be more forceful in obtaining the release of Loubani and Greyson.

    Thanks everyone.

  11. Thanks TC!
