Here are the results of our Republican Shutdown or Republican Default Poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are often accurate.

Both.

Only possible good to come from it will be a better chance for Democrats to re-capture the House in 2014 from the hostage-taking rethuglicans.

I am so fed up with all this. I really hope that with the next interim election, the PEOPLE will finally get these obstructive politicians out of Congress and the Senate!

No matter what happens, WE, THE PEOPLE, will be the ones to lose. The powers that be have enough money to survive a shutdown. Hope to see some good come from this. Guess I’m an eternal optimist.

I would hope that the Republican/Teabaggers would find the balls to support the country, and not the abyss in which to destroy it!

Republican/Teabaggers are snake oil salesmen and hucksters whose only concern is their own power, control and greed. Their attitude towards the potential government shutdown and the debt ceiling shows that they should be charged with sedition, because their actions, if they follow through on their rhetoric, will result in civil unrest.

RepubliCONs will go to any lengths to Prove we don’t need Half of Government..they don’t realize THEY are the half we can do without! We MUST get rid of them – does anyone know how to build guillotines?

They will do both, even if they destroy what is left so they can extort the Pres. to get rid of the Affordable care act.

Both – Debt Default and/or Govt. Shutdown

clip_image004

I was one of the many who voted Both.  We were at least half right, although in this case, I would have preferred to be wrong on both.  The House Republicans should openly declare war on the American people, so they could legally be charged with treason.  As it is they are guilty of sedition.

Vote in the new poll quickly.  I hope it will not be up very long.

  1. "I was one of the many who voted Both. We were at least half right, although in this case, I would have preferred to be wrong on both."

Half right for now.  It is still undecided whether the Republicanus/Teabaggers will yet again hold the nation hostage by not approving a debt ceiling increase.  I suspect part of the answer to the second point may depend on how much flack they take and the duration of the shut down.  Mind, they've never demonstrated that they care anything for what the people they claim to represent really want.  If shit were brains, they'd be bloody geniuses.

  2. Oh Lynn you made me howl with laughter – and you are right!  How I wish the GOP/TP could realise that we were given ears and mouths in a ratio of two to one and should use them in that order – and that they might LISTEN to others for a change!

I do hope that they get pilloried in the media and that people loudly demonstrate their disgust and fury with the Teabaggers' behaviour and that they agree to increase the debt ceiling – but I think they have painted themselves into a corner with their insane rhetoric and it will not end well.  In a negotiation it is always a good idea to allow the other side a sort of 'honorable out' so they can retreat with dignity – the GOP/TP themselves have cut off their own retreat – madness.

  3. I forgot to vote but I would have said Both. I hope we are only half right.

  4. I voted "Both" – but I may reconsider that.  Given the drubbing Teahadist Rethuglicans are getting in the polls right now, they may actually wise up and rethink their terrorist extortion on the Debt Ceiling vote coming up.

Polls show voters overwhelmingly oppose the GOP tactics, and Democrats open a big lead in a generic poll.

    October 1, 2013 –

American Voters Reject GOP Shutdown Strategy 3-1

Dems Up 9 Points In 2014 Congressional Races

    • American voters oppose 72 – 22 percent Congress shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

      Nameless

      Great information and thank you.

    • Very interesting info Nameless.

American voters are divided on Obamacare, with 45 percent in favor and 47 percent opposed, but they are opposed 58 – 34 percent to Congress cutting off funding for the health care law to stop its implementation.

This suggests to me that Americans are confused about Obamacare more than anything, or they would rather have universal healthcare.  They say they don't like it but they don't want to cut off funding for it either, but prefer to see it up close first.  I get such a laugh when I hear the Republicanus/Teabaggers quoting huge opposition numbers to Obamacare.  They don't do any analysis of "why".  They just use and twist the numbers . . . lying and/or deceiving as usual.

American voters trust President Obama more than Republicans in Congress … 47 – 38 percent on handling health care.

I guess Americans dislike Republicare even less than Obamacare.  Those free Republicare death benefits just don't cut it.

American voters oppose 72 – 22 percent Congress shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

Voters also oppose 64 – 27 percent blocking an increase in the nation's debt ceiling as a way to stop Obamacare, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.

These are substantial numbers.  Although 28% blame Republicanus/Teabaggers, a bigger number, 58%, blame both parties equally.  Personally, after watching all the shenanigans from north of the 49th, I would certainly place much more blame on the Republicanus/Teabaggers.  Some people may feel that it is just too hard to tell because there is so much conflicting info in the MSM.

Thanks again Nameless!  This is great stuff!

      • Confused about ObamaCare?  Hell, we're Americans … you gotta 'splain things to us slow, a couple of times, and in monosyllablles.  Yeah, we may say we don't like "ObamaCare" – but break it down into parts and WE'RE ALL FOR IT!

The breakdown: Forty-nine percent of Iowans believe the program, also known as Obamacare, “is a very bad law that should be repealed or refunded.” Thirty-six percent agree with the statement that “it is an OK law, with some pluses and minuses.” Only 9 percent agree that “it is a very good law that should be allowed to be fully implemented.”

But when asked about seven major parts of the law, majorities of Iowans say they like all but one.

And that's from a Poll taken just ONE DAY AGO:

  5. I voted both with a question mark next to my head…

  6. Nameless, I wish I could agree with you, but their strategy has been and I fear will continue to be, when challenged by reality, yell louder.  I am absolutely convinced they will keep the government shut down indefinitely AND go for default.  And it still will not be enough to get them ousted in 2014 UNLESS we with brains work, work, work and push, push, push to get the vote out.  Democrats/liberals/progressives are very, very, very bad about voting in non-Presidential-election years.

    • You're probably right.  Just call me a cock-eyed optimist.

But this isn't a game.  Like either Jon Stewart of Bill Maher said (paraphrasing): "When some is driving 75 MPH and decides to aim their car straight at you, that isn't a game of chicken … that's some a$$hole intent on killing you!"  And we all know it's those Teahadist Rethuglicans who are behind the wheel.

  7. Thanks everyone.  Great links!

The one thing that we must understand is that this is Republican Party. nit just the mean old Tea Party making them do this,  Their votyes are their own.  If a Secret Service agents won't take a bullet to save the President, they shpould not be in the Secret Service.  In like manner, if Representatives won't risk being primaried to do their job, they should not be in Congress!
