I’m writing for tomorrow, day 108. as we come to the end of another month.  It’s a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid orb, and a worship service is on as I write.  Later the Broncos worship with the Philadelphia congregation, and it will be televised here, so I shall be meditating deeply.

Short Takes:

From Raw Story (Hat-Tip to Lynn): A Rutgers University student who found himself being cited by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as a cautionary tale told MSNBC host Ed Schultz on Friday that Cruz distorted his story for the purposes of arguing against the Affordable Care Act…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Cruz is no different than any other Republican Senator in one respect. They all have to lie, because, if they told the truth, not even the most stupid sheeple would vote for them. This student’s story is a perfect example of that.

From Daily Kos: Could it be that the excoriation received by Chuck Todd by a multitude of reputable online news sources is reframing the actions of some traditional journalists? Is it the fear that as Americans see the truth they will justifiably stop accepting the traditional media as one of their major sources of information?

Lemons had recently been a ‘yes man’ for Bill O’Lielly. I’m glad he decided to come clean and hope more media people do.

From Alternet: NRA Lobbyist: Opposing Elephant Slaughter Is Hitlerian Animal Racism

Here’s the background: There’s this show on NBC Sports called “Under Wild Skies” featuring an NRA lobbyist and all the animals he likes to hunt and kill. Some people think this is fun to do and watch. But, some people also objected this week when the show featured the gun lobbyist in question, Tony Makris, shooting an elephant in the face, and then drinking champagne. About 50,000 people objected and suggested NBC cancel the show.

This upset Tony Makris, who feels, as many gun nuts do, very oppressed by the fact that people want to deprive him of his liberties to shoot and televise his kills, and celebrate afterwards. These dang animal nuts are exactly like Hitler, he said in an interview with NRA talk show host Cam Edwards.

To be clear, Makris explained, he is a hunter, a non-dsicriminatory [sic] hunter. “I hunt all things,” not just elephants. Animal rights people are too soft on elephants. Nobody objected about his shooting ducks, pigeons, rabbits and squirrels, let alone deer. “So I can shoot all of those, but not an elephant?” he asked rhetorically.

This, he said, is animal racism. And to those who would argue that elephants are different, bigger, more special, smarter and more sensitive, he said. “Hitler would have said the same thing.”

Gotcha!

This is just one of seven examples of Republican TEAbuggery in just the last week. Click through for the other six. (We need to send this elephant hunter to the US House!! ;-))

  1. Ed Schultz is right – yes we do have to look at and verify (where possible – and that won't happen very often) everything the GOP/TP assert is true; and yes, Ted Cruz should apologise to that intelligent and competent student for misrepresenting him so badly – and without his permission!

Have already signed a petition re Tony Makris – what a piece of work!

  2. 3:23  If I didn`t know any better, I would say that is English Bay looking north towards West Vancouver.

  3. As one of those animal nuts, I consistently wonder what it is that killing a helpless animal really does for man?  Is he proud that he can use a piece of machinery to end a life that has caused him no harm whatsoever?  Does he feel  taller, more macho when all the odds are on his side and he takes advantage of those odds?  I'm not sure what someone like that thinks, but I think that kind of person is a wee, tiny, little human being with a wee, tiny little brain who would not be missed at all if someone blew him away…

  4. 4:28 Maybe if I present myself for embarrassment often enough some other slow people will fess up more LOL.

Of course we also object when Makris shoots any living thing.  Unless he were to shoot himself, not that I'm wishing he would, bt I wouldn't object.  Wonder if he can say "projection."

The best thing that could happen to Ted Cruz would be for him to keep misrepresenting people and them to call him out publicly; eventually it would be clear this is a pattern and he would be sent home with his tail between his legs.

I will be sounding like a broken record (remember records?), but I cannot stress enough that Democrats are very bad about voting in non-Presidential years and it will take all our resources just to get people to the polls in 2013 and 2014 – yes, there are gubernatorial elections this year and yes, it matters even if you don't live there.  And we may have to be getting them there with ID.  If you can, please volunteer.  If you can, please contribute.

    • Any time that beats the average is a good time, not a bad time.  Good going, Joanne D!

    • I agree with Jerry.  You out to stary putting those times in the group with the regulars.

Send him to the US House!!! 😉

I think his fame will be like that of 'Blood Libel Barbie' aka 'Drill Baby Dingbat'.  Intense but short lived.

      I agree!

  5. Jig zone: Sorry, Joanne, but I will remain adamantly silent about my time. If it helps, yours was better.

Evidently the viewer backlash was too much for NBC, the network has now cancelled Mr. Makris' NRA-sponsored abomination of a show. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch. Even a lot of self-proclaimed NRA members were disgusted by it. I was taught at an early age that if it isn't threatening you or you don't intend to eat it, don't shoot it. Too bad Makris never learned that lesson.

They all have to lie, because, if they told the truth, not even the most stupid sheeple would vote for them.

John Connley sets the record straight via the Ed Show…

The ACA aka Obamacare takes effect tomorrow, two thumbs up ^^.

  7. Listen to Don Lemon here.

    Thank you Don,
Florida Republicans leaving 1 million citizens without care, Shame on you….!

  8. Puzzle — 3:23  If I didn`t know any better, I would say that is English Bay looking north towards West Vancouver.

Raw Story — Interesting how, in Ted Cruz`s mind, Obamacare and student loan debt are virtually the same thing.  As Connelly notes, the Wall Street Journal article in which Connelly`s story exists, mentions student loan debt 13 times but Obamacare once.   With Connelly`s use of the term “free market dystopia”, I hardly think he would support what Cruz seeks.  Just further proof that the Republicanus/Teabaggers are very comfortable lying and distorting the truth if it serves their purposes.  Actually, I think that is the only tactic they can use because the truth would never "set them free" to govern!

The Daily Kos — So how many sheeple are going to listen to Lemon`s admissions since they have been indoctrinated for years?

"Don Lemon was no different than most other traditional media journalists. He like others have been rolled over by a well-organized and orchestrated Right Wing, Tea Party, Republican machine that have allowed the use of the national airwaves to misinform, lie to, and confuse their listeners.

…What is interesting is that he referenced many fact checks he should have known … Don Lemon, Chuck Todd, and most traditional journalists  are responsible for being the conduits Republicans used to misinform."

MSM liberal bias . . . my ass!  And Don Lemon blew his trumpet and "the Republicanus/Teabagger walls came tumbling down!"

    Alternet —

    1) "… although he (Blackwell) did not venture any specific plans for doing that…." — doesn`t matter what it is, they never do have any alternate plans except their own interests and wallets!

    2) I wonder how O`Lielly would react if someone told him that the real Jesus was closer to a socialist or a Marxist?  Socialist or Marxist ≠ Teabagger!

    3) What else can one say "Robert Benmosche is … deluded, narcissistic, or, to use Paul Krugman’s term, sociopathic."

    4) And hence my nickname for Louie . . . Goh-merde! (anybody not familiar with it, "merde" is French for "shit".

    5) Animal racism???  Many would say NO HUNTING period.  Perhaps the outrage is that the elephant is an endangered animal!  Or perhaps the outrage is the celebration of death!  Talk about death panels, Obamacare doesn`t have them, but obviously the NRA does! "We need to send this elephant hunter to the US House!!"  LMAO! Excellent ideaand offer him a bounty on every hide taken!

    6) Bryan Fischer is an asshole, unworthy of the air he breathes.

    7) COPE can`t cope with scientific knowledge because it befuddles them!

Cartoon — "Obama must not make the same mistake with Republicans." — AMEN!!!

    • Will yhou be Mashed?

I think he knows better.  He thinks that fdeeding blood to the rabid base will get him the Presidential nominatiion in 2016.

      Bingo!

      Nuts, huh?

      Thanks!

  9. Cruz wouldn't recognize the truth if it hit him fully in the face.  So glad this young man stepped up.

My respect for Don Lemon has gone up significantly.  I hope this does not cost him his job at CNN.,  They are not much better than fox.

Glad to know the mighty elephant hunter has been cancelled.  I will never understand why it is FUN to kill a helpless animal.

Please, please, Mr. President, don't appease the Republicans again.
