I’m writing for tomorrow, day 93.  Just maybe the extreme heat has ended a day early, but my two weather sources are 13° apart.  I’m still over-tired from the week.  Don’t forget to set your fantasy football lineups, and Patty, YOU NEED A TIGHT END!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:57 (average 5:08).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MSNBC: Ed Shultz talks about un-brainwashing Faux Noise viewers.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

In short, there is more than one kind of viewer of the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise. Regular folks, who watch it, because they don’t know any better can be helped. But neither flavor of core viewer can be helped. The core viewers that say "Kill!", are getting exactly what they want, so they will not accept help. The core viewers that say "Ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a", are just too stuck on stupid!

From Right Wing Watch: Two weeks ago, the Christian Broadcasting Network tried to cover up remarks made by Pat Robertson, the founder of CBN and host of its flagship show the 700 Club, about how he believes gay men wear special rings that cut the hands of people they meet in order to infect them with HIV/AIDS.

CBN not only had the video we posted of Robertson’s comments removed from YouTube by complaining that it violated copyright laws, but also edited the comments out of its own broadcast of the show.

We reposted our video elsewhere, but CBN also had it removed from websites such as Vimeo and Dailymotion.

We filed a counterclaim with YouTube asserting that our video was protected by Fair Use and yesterday we finally received word that our video had been restored…

Kudos, to RWW! As for Robertson, I trust that, in the end, “Blood Diamond Pat” will hear, "I never knew you!"

From Politico: Senate Democrats have had all they can take from David Vitter and his fixation on Obamacare — and they’re dredging up his past prostitution scandal to hit back.

Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, has infuriated Democrats this week by commandeering the Senate floor, demanding a vote on his amendment repealing federal contributions to help pay for lawmakers’ health care coverage.

But Democratic senators are preparing a legislative response targeting a sordid Vitter episode. If Vitter continues to insist on a vote on his proposal, Democrats could counter with one of their own: Lawmakers will be denied those government contributions if there is “probable cause” they solicited prostitutes…

LOL!! I love it!! Vitter has demanded that the Senate Ethics Committee investigate Harry Reid over this. Now, I’m no fan of the Nevada Leg Hound, but the very notion of Diaper Dave demanding an ethics review epitomizes GOP Hypocrisy!

  1. 5:11 I will most likely be Rocked, Stomped and Crunched today. I've already been thrown in the Catbox. Have at it fellow solvers.

  2. I had a Tight End a couple days ago. Must be I got rid of it changing things around. I'll get right on it now. Thanks for the reminder, TC.

  3. How did you do? 6:04 – Nurf Rock strikes again.

From MSNBC: Ed Shultz talks about un-brainwashing Faux Noise viewers.

    Is this even possible?

Pat Robertson’s comments, "You didn't catch anything so keep going to church and bring money".

  4. The hypocrisy with Rethuglicans is so dense there's no doubt they can't even see the irony in Vitter's headline generating action:

    Whoremonger Demands Ethics Investigation

  5. Wow!  I just came back to the computer after a power failure and discovered LARRY SUMMERS HAS WITHDRAWN as potential Fed head.  If only every power failure would lead to such good news!  I'd wish for one every day LOL.

  6. You absolutely cannot unbrainwash a Faux news follower, I have tried with my brother in law, and I just make him angry.  People really believe that "fair and balanced" crap.  CNN is getting almost as bad as Fox.

Vitter like most Republicans has conveniently forgotten his past.

    Thank goodness for Greenpeace!

When are you moving to your new apartment?

  7. Puzzle — 3:40  I have been out all day, mostly between church and mother.  I ache like crazy and feel like crap so I'll try the Open Thread and then it is adios!

MSNBC — IMO, you can't suggest to any brainwashed Faux Noise acolyte that they try a more balanced news station.  They must be lead by the nose, literally.  But I definitely agree with you on the 3 types.  Type 2 and 3 are definitely beyond redemption!

Right Wing Watch — RWW definitely deserves major kudos for sticking with their action against CBN and Pat Robertson.  Although I think Robertson is a senile old goat, I also think he knew very well what he said.  I would so very much like to see the IRS investigate him from stem to stern.  I`ll bet he`d crawl right out of his skin on that one!

Politico — Vitter is an ass!  Typical Republicanus/Teabagger hypocrisy!

Cartoon — Happy to say that Greenpeace started here in Vancouver.  This from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenpeace

"Greenpeace evolved from the peace movement and anti-nuclear protests in Vancouver, British Columbia, in the late 1960s and early 1970s. On September 15, 1971, the newly founded Don't Make a Wave Committee sent a chartered ship, Phyllis Cormack, renamed Greenpeace for the protest, from Vancouver to oppose United States testing of nuclear devices in Amchitka, Alaska. The Don't Make a Wave Committee subsequently adopted the name Greenpeace."

    • Hopr you get some rest!! 🙂

      Thanks.

      Amen!

      Amen again!

I did not know that!  Wooo Hoooo canada!

      • Vancouver is a nuclear weapons free zone and has been for as long as I can remember.  No nuclear weaponed ships can come into port etc.  As far as I know, it goes back to the early Greenpeace days.  As far as I know, there was even questions as to whether nuclear powered ships could come to port.
