Yesterday was cooler, as it only reached 92° at my desk, and as I write for day 45, I actually feel cold, because the temperature inside has dropped to 75°.  Hopefully, I’ll be done here before the fantasy football draft.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:36 (average 5:20).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Think Progress: A growing number of Republicans are publicly distancing themselves from Rep. Steve King’s (R-IA) claim that many undocumented youths are drug mules with cantaloupe-sized calves, but the conservative congressman claims that GOP lawmakers are backing him in private.

During an appearance on Fox News on Saturday, King said that Republicans are in fact standing by him, but are afraid to publicly support him for fear of sparking outrage and losing their legislative leverage.

“My colleagues are standing by me. They come up to me constantly and talk to me and say, you’re right, I know you’re right,” King said. “Is the description such that they have to go out to the press and do a press conference or can they come and tell me, I know you’re right, I support you? They can do that privately,” he said.

I’m surprised to say that Steve King actually told the truth on Faux Noise. I have no doubt that his colleagues, who are distancing themselves publically, are doing so only to hide their own Racism, so of course they support him in private. That is the problem, and that’s what the legislation they propose projects.

From Raw Story: Barack Obama has given the strongest indication to date that he holds reservations about the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, saying the project would not create many jobs and could raise gasoline prices.

In an interview with the New York Times, the president disputed a main justification for the pipeline – its economic benefits – and reaffirmed he would reject the project if it expanded carbon pollution.

How could it not expand carbon pollution when we would be refining that filthy sludge here here?  The only way I can see to make it greenhouse gases neutral would by to export a TEABagger to Canada for every barrel of tar sands oil we import.

From Crooks and Liars:

Do you remember how ape-shit Republicans got after someone leaked the email list of left-leaning, centrist and even conservative journos and wonks called Journolist? Tucker Carlson and many other thumbsuckers cried out in the night like babies in their cribs. Dana Perino said this on FOX News about Journolist.

Perino: I don’t know any conservatives who actually participate in something like that.

Really? I knew many people on the Journolist and believe me it was just a list that was used to chat about politics. I’ve been on a few lists myself over the years and most of the time it’s just a forum for people to discuss breaking news stories and proposed legislation and nothing more. It wasn’t used to start a "30 Front War."

Isn’t it funny now that we learn Conservatives have indeed had their own email list all along, but they also took it much farther by holding secret meetings in a DC office to come up with ideas and strategies to shape the political narrative. They even have a Supreme Court Justice’s wife on their team. What interesting pillow talk Ginni and Clarence must have! That’s something that the left has never done. When I heard the news, I immediately wondered how FOX news would report on the story. Well, as of right now I can’t report how they handled it, because they completely buried the story… [emphasis added]

Of course Republicans are projecting, as always, accusing lefties of doing what Republicans are doing themselves. Here’s the projection in progress.  Watch the goose-steppers lie!

There’s one key difference. Liberal journalists discuss news to try to understand it. The Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, and the rest of the Republican fantasy factory discuss news to try to distort it.

The U.S. government welcomed the action and announced its intention to open serious discussions with Cuba on normalization.  Then Republicans happened.

  1. Not for one second did any of us think that King’s is the ONLY racist, hate-mongering, bigoted idiot in the Republican Party

Plus he also claimed: “When people start calling you names, that’s what confirms you’ve won the debate.”

So let’s see how this works … King, you’re an A$$hole.  Oops, I guess you won.  And a Racist Knuckle-Dragger.  Wow – you bested me again.  Not to mention a Fart Huffer.  Damn, put another “W” in that Win column of yours.

Man, King, you are good at this. You just keep winning one after another.

  2. Jig Zone Puzzle: 8:18

Fox in outlawed in Canada, I just can't watch the lies..

They even have a Supreme Court Justice’s wife on their team.

    Cricketts…

    • Keep plugging away at the puzzle. I used to have times like that too.

You are wise to ignore FAUX NOISE.

    • Keep on improving!

Ginny's activities are what prompted me to start calling him Teabag Thomas.  A large part of his family income comes fron her TEAbuggery.

  3. Glad it seems marginally cooler TC – thanks for the Raw Story and NY Times pieces on Keystone XL and the President – it seems hopeful, but I am not going to give up signing and writing and praying about it till it is banned.  Mind you – that won't stop some clutz resurrecting the idea as soon as there is another Repuglicon President….

  4. 3:32 Bow-wow!  Whose going to take my bone?

  5. Puzzle — 3:32 Bow-wow!  Whose going to take my bone?

Think Progress — Has anyone told King that the Republicanus/Teabaggers are trying to rebuild their image, their brand to entice minority votes, specifically the Latino vote?  King and some of the others who shoot their mouths off without loading their brains, are the best advertisement to show the electorate that the rebranding is nothing but a sham.  Under the new bricks is the old structure and a facelift will not work.  The old structure is built with racism and discrimination must be seen for what it are: foul!  Honesty on these counts is not something to which most GOP subscribe.

As Sir Walter Scott said: "O what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive."

Raw Story — Personally, I hope that Mr Obama nixes the Keystone XL.  Unfortunately, that will mean for Canada that the oil companies will look for another route whether by pipeline through the industrial and farming heart of Ontario to Québec and Maine; or by train the same route (watch for another Lac-Mégantic); or by pipeline to the Arctic Ocean.  It would not surprise me to see the Rt disHonourable Stephen Harper "order" the Enbridge Northern Gateway through BC even though BC has said "No".

And I suppose the following was added for my benefit? " The only way I can see to make it greenhouse gases neutral would by to export a TEABagger to Canada for every barrel of tar sands oil we import."  Just remember that we have frozen hockey pucks and gobs of poutine stored along the border.  If the pucks don't get you, the clogged arteries will!  Also, it is you that makes the decision to import.  We can't export unless you first agree to import.  Keep your Teabaggers!

Crooks and Liars — Projection indeed!  The conservatives have got their knickers in a twist and the blood flow is being cut off.

Cartoon — The embargo is such a waste.  It is anachronistic and long since outlived any usefulness it may have had.  Personally, I don't think it was useful because life went on.  The only thing it did was create political tension.

    • We were all Bigfooted!

      Exactly true!

You're right that there is no good solution.  No, Lynn, it was not just for your benefit.  I have several Canadian friends, and all would be apalled at the notion of Baggers coming north.

      LOL!

It started at the behest of the Dole family and Big Oil.

  6. I don't doubt that King is tellling the truth about his colleagues coming to him in private to support him.. That is how they operate.

If Obama supports the Keystone pipeline, I am done with him. This will provide a minimal number of jobs, cause environmental disasters, and, the US will see no benefits from the oil.

faux news will report nothing that might harm the Republicans or teabaggers.

    • Exactly.

Edie, you're done with Obama either way.  He's faced his last election.  Support the things he does righht, and oppose the things he does wrong.

      Amen!

  7. Rep. Steve King has a cantaloupe-sized tumor on his brain that causes him to say idiotic things.
