I’m so irate over the Supreme Court’s murder of voting rights,  that I missed a sleep cycle.  I’m writing early and hope to be awake enough to do more tomorrow (day 12).

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:57 (average 5:04).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Huffington Post: The defense [for Zimmerman] opened with a knock-knock joke about the difficulty of picking a jury for a case that stirred nationwide debate over racial profiling, vigilantism and Florida’s expansive laws on the use of deadly force.

"Knock. Knock," said defense attorney Don West.

"Who is there?"

"George Zimmerman."

"George Zimmerman who?"

"All right, good. You’re on the jury."

Maybe George Zimmerman and his attorney think it appropriate to make jokes about the murder trial, right in front of the teenage victim’s mother. I consider it most vile.

From MSNBC: Theft in the Senate immigration bill

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

If immigration reform makes it out of the House, this stealth benefit theft that Republicans snuck in, knowing most would not have time to read the bill, and the absurd 100 mile vehicle search without a warrant zone, plus whatever other TEAbuggery House Republicans may include, must be stripped away in conference committee.

From USA Today: The most remarkable thing about the Pentagon celebrating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Month Tuesday is how unremarkable it is.

How many remember the extreme screaming from Republican bigots that this would destroy the military?

  1. 0Thanks for this TC – sorry you lost sleep over Scotus.  Awful.

(This benighted vile machine has taken many hours of struggle and effort [quite literally] to reach this point and I am exhausted – it has used all my strength up! ).

I tried several times to see the Huff Post article but couldn't get through – no doubt this machine – please tell me that the lawyer didn't tell a' joke'?!  I can't see the article to tell – that would be so unbearably dreadful if the joke wasn't a joke (if you see what I mean!).

    • Pat, I remember celkebrating it's passage when I was still in High School.  I wouyld be a sotrry excuse for a human being, if it didn't upset me.

I'm glad you get to take the beast back.  Next time 7.

He told a knock knock joke.

  2. 3:23 I cleared al the hurdles with no problems. Who will trip me up?

  3. Keep up the good work on the smoking cessation propram. And, you need your sleep to help you fight. Don't let those jerks keep you up!

HuffPo ~ I have a terrible feeling that they will let him go.

MSNBC ~ My Congressman conducted a "Town Hall" last week and answered the question about the Immigration vote both ways. He doesn't know where he stands on anything. Typical RepublicanT!

USA Today ~ Same sex marriage will destroy the American family too. If they only had a brain…

Cartoon ~ Where are those John Birchers? They still haven't gotten us out of the UN. They thought they would years ago.

    • I'll try, but see my reply to Pat.

I'm waiting to see what they do.

Only Republicans can take both sides of an issue and lie both ways.

      If only they had integrity.

Live with Voting Rights, they'[ll never stop trying.

  4. This just in ~ SCOTUS declared DOMA unconstitutional. Good news for all!

  5. Puzzle — 3:48  My horse threw me and I landed on my ass!

Huffington Post — From a moral point of view, I consider the joke beyond despicable.  From a defense point of view, West appears to be saying that the trial is a joke, that the killing is a joke.  I would like to see justice done, but I'm not confident that it will be done.

Randy McClean, a criminal defense attorney in Florida with no connection to the case, called the prosecution's opening statement "brilliant" in that it described Zimmerman's state of mind. But he described the knock-knock joke as less than stellar.

"If you're defending your client for second-degree murder, you probably shouldn't start your opening with a joke," McClean said.

MSNBC — There is a bumper sticker I see from time to time that says "Don't steal! The Government does like competition!"  Now I know where it came from.  And THAT is just from the Senate.  The most rabid dogs are in the House!

USA Today — I remember that.  Now it is the Republican/Teabaggers who are are saying ithat marriage equality and equal rights will destroy society.

Cartoon — Republican/Teabaggers only abide by the rules when it suits them.  Proof:  A little illegal skirmish that lasted 10 years . . . Iraq!

    • That wasn't your ass.  You landed on ME! 🙁   😉

That's the way I see it too.

That is the reason stealing is illegal.  They want a monopoly.

      Of course.

      Bingo!
