This is today’s only article, because I’m going for my quarterly surgery to remove a recurring growth on my foot.  No worries.  It’s routine.  Happy Flag day to all.  The best way to celebrate the day is to unwrap a Republican at every opportunity.  I am, once again, writing early.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:13 (average 4:30).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MSNBC: How Republicans get war on women legislation passed.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Unwilling to cede the status of most fascist Reich in America to Teafuhrer McCrory and McCrorystan, the minions of Fartfuhrer Walker and Fitzwalkerstan are charging hard.

From NY Times: Deaths exceeded births among non-Hispanic white Americans for the first time in at least a century, according to new census data, a benchmark that heralds profound demographic change.

The disparity was tiny — only about 12,000 — and was more than made up by a gain of 188,000 as a result of immigration from abroad. But the decrease for the year ending July 1, 2012, coupled with the fact that a majority of births in the United States are now to Hispanic, black and Asian mothers, is further evidence that white Americans will become a minority nationwide within about three decades.

No doubt the halls of Republican Party HQ are now filled with great wailing and gnashing of teeth.

From Right Wing Watch: TPM’s Perry Stein today reports that the Virginia GOP, fresh after nominating the ultraconservative ticket of Ken Cuccinelli and E.W. Jackson, has now appointed Rev. Joe Ellison as the party’s Director of African-American Engagement.

Republican Party of Virginia chairman Pat Mullins hailed [Republican Party delinked] Ellison for his “knowledge and experience,” and Ellison said that he will help build “the future of our party” by showing black voters that they “share far more values with the Republican Party than they realize.”

As Stein notes, Ellison in 2010 announced that he is “declaring war against Planned Parenthood” and applauded televangelist Pat Robertson’s claim that Haiti was devastated by a deadly earthquake as divine retribution for making a “pact with the Devil” 200 years ago.

Voodoo already yet?!!? The Republican Party has goose-stepped into a state of pseudo-Christian InsaniTEA!  He’s supporting the same Pat Robertson who prophesied that God would punish Orlando, Florida with a hurricane to punish them, because Disney World had adopted a policy of non-discrimination against LGBT employees.  The next hurricane to make landfall damaged Robertson’s own Virginia Beach HQ.  God just may have a fantastic sense of humor.

The Republican claim that this stems from our founding fathers is a lie.

  1. 3:32 Too much time smelling the roses and not enough time solving the puzzle.

  2. "Good luck with your "routine minor surgery" today.

    MSNBC ~ Why wasn't insani-Tea mentioned as a cause?

NY Times ~ Along with the "wailing and gnashing of teeth" is the buying up of more ammunition and guns because they fear for their miserable lives.

Right Wing Watch ~ Ellison is the "Ideal spokesman" for the party. They will all run away from him making the sign of the cross as protection.

Cartoon ~ Just another lie to add to the rest.

  3. Does Maddow's still shot of that literally crazy loon, Sen. Mike Ellis from Wisconsin, remind anyone else of the Sieg Heiling Dr. Strangelove?

  4. "As Stein notes, Ellison in 2010 announced that he is “declaring war against Planned Parenthood” and applauded televangelist Pat Robertson’s claim that Haiti was devastated by a deadly earthquake as divine retribution for making a “pact with the Devil” 200 years ago."  Oh good grief TC!  I know that the Far Right wouldn't recognise the New Testament or Jesus if confronted with them – but this is just appalling!

As for the unhinged Repuglicon in the video – God save us all from him and his ilk!  He really looked in need of urgent medical attention and a calming injection!

Mind you – I did like this comment of yours "Voodoo already yet?!!? The Republican Party has goose-stepped into a state of pseudo-Christian InsaniTEA!  He’s supporting the same Pat Robertson who prophesied that God would punish Orlando, Florida with a hurricane to punish them, because Disney World had adopted a policy of non-discrimination against LGBT employees.  The next hurricane to make landfall damaged Robertson’s own Virginia Beach HQ.  God just may have a fantastic sense of humor." – wonder how he explained that away!

  5. Puzzle — 3:44  I too spent too much time smelling the roses and then started sneezing my face off!  Arrggghhhh!

MSNBC — Could someone please enlighten me as to why these invasive proceedures are considered constitutional when the 4th amendment says:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

What don't these yahoos understand about "secure in their persons"?  Personally, I was waiting for the damn hammer to break or that idiot Ellis to keel over from a heart attack or a stroke.

NY Times — I am surprised that the Republican/Teabaggers haven't made marriage equality for any race other than the white race "a fait accompli".  After all, according to them, there is a shortage of whites so let's get those white baby machines going.

The "wailing and gnashing of teeth" is the Republican/Teabagger version of a 2 year old's temper tantrum!

Right Wing Watch — The best thing that could happen in Virginia is for Cuccinelli, Jackson and Ellison to fall down the rabbit hole and never ever be heard from again!  Do not pass 'go', do not stop by the state capital . . . down the rbbit hole forever!

Cartoon — Undoubtedly a reaction to the godless hordes of communism at the time.  Too bad that Eisenhower had to drag God into the mix.  But then, he wasn't the first.  And Republican/Teabaggers are still doing it . . . even to the point of defying the constitution and the separation of church and state by trying to create a "Christian" (read pseudo Christian) theocracy.

    From Wikipedia:

"In God we trust" first appeared on U.S. coins in 1864 and has appeared on paper currency since 1957. Some secularists object to its use. …

The phrase appears to have originated in "The Star-Spangled Banner", written during the War of 1812. The fourth stanza includes the phrase, "And this be our motto: 'In God is our Trust.'" According to Ted Alexander, Chief Historian at Antietam National Battlefield, the contracted "In God We Trust" was first used by the 125th Pennsylvania Infantry as a battle cry on September 17, 1862, during the Battle of Antietam of the American Civil War.

The final form of the motto and its placement upon currency were forged entirely within this crucible of national turmoil (lasting from 1861 to 1865). The Reverend M. R. Watkinson, in a letter dated November 13, 1861, petitioned the Treasury Department to add a statement recognising "Almighty God in some form in our coins."  At least part of the motivation was to declare that God was on the Union side of the Civil War.

Personally, I am with the secularists, especially in this day and age.  With so many non Christians immigrating to the US, with the "freedom of and from religion" entrenched in the 1st amendment of the constitution, "In God We Trust" on US money flies in the face of being unconstitutional.  Not only that, but the phrase comes out of the War of 1812, the American Civil War, WWII and the Korean War — anybody see what I see?  God is being invoked in the name of WAR.  How is that significantly different from Allāhu Akbar (the takbir — God is Great), as used by radical Muslims? (This term is also a "common Islamic Arabic expression. It is used in various contexts by Muslims: in formal prayer, as an informal expression of faith, in times of distress, to express celebration or victory, and to express resolute determination or defiance."

    • I thought I had a chance until Crunched and Crapped!

Republispeak Dictionary: right (n) – the freedom to do whatever they say.

Now you have insulted the terrible twos. 😉

On the other hand, they may well inspire an overwhelming turnout by the 99%.

If Republicans realized it was a Declaration of being on the union side, they would demand it be removed..

Those pushing that "In God We Trust: stay on the money are not those that trust in God.  They are those that trust in money.

  6. Also from Wikipedia,

[The pledge of allegiance] "originally composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the pledge in 1942.[1] "

    Hardly from the 'founding fathers".

  7. Perhaps the declining birth rate for whites is the reason Wisconsin wants to ban abortion.  Keep as many white babies as possible?  l am totally dumbfounded at the number of states that are rushing to punish women any way they can.

    • Edie, I'm not sure, but I think there are proportionally more abortions on blacks.  Abortion was a key for pseudo-Christians before they adopted racism.

  8. TC, I hope your surgery went ok today.

  9. Wisconsin GOP latest to push extreme anti-abortion laws

    This guy's an A$$ Hole…
