It’s a lazy day, and I’m waiting for a friend to bring a few things from home.  When released, I will be going back to the old place and will continue the hunt for a new one from there.  For now,we’re looking at a target of Thursday.

Here’s a vid from Ed Schultz’ new show:

Ryan is practicing projection, of course: accusing us of his own shortcomings. But, if Lyin’ Ryan wants to insult us, that’s OK He insults himself more.

  1. Glad to hear that you're on the mend

Disappointed to learn that your new abode search will probably take longer than you had hoped

    And …

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all who qualify!

    • Thanks Nameless!

    • Thanks Nameless.  I am mum to 3 fur babies and one elderly mother.

I have two things for you to think about this Mother's Day.

When I was 10 years old, my father left us for another woman.  That left my somewhat sheltered mother on her own with two kids and no income.  To make a long story short, we got through it but it wasn't easy.  But as a young adult I realised that my mother had to be both mother and father all those years so I began giving her a Mother's Day card in May, and a Father's Day card in June as acknowledgement of her two primary roles.  Think about the men out there that have been both mother and father to kids, and there are many.  Think about the fathers who had to help their daughters become young women, not an easy thing to do so I am told by some single fathers.

The second thing is we are never too old to learn more from our mothers, nor our mothers too or too infirm to teach us.  My mother was diagnosed with dementia in January 2008 but was sufficiently far along that she needed to be in assisted living.  In March 2012, I had to move my mother to full nursing care.  Today, she cannot dress or bathe herself, she cannot feed herself or attend her hygiene needs, she cannot speak nor walk.  I go over every weekend to feed her and spend time with her.  I have been long known by others to be a patient person, although I never thought of myself as patient.  Well now, my mother has taught me patience and not to sweat the small stuff.  So, if she picks up her food in her fingers, so be it.  She has the effective age of a two year old and growing younger.

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers of human kids or furbabies, to all you dad's who step into the mothering role, and to everyone else that is called from time to time to step in as a mother.

  2. Tom: Be sure the wiring in the new place will hold up for computer AND AC at the same time. You shouldn't have to be miserable this summer.

    Best wishes,

    Marva and Jack

    • I totally agree.  If I was born 75 years ago with no ac, I would have died my first summer.  And to all of you who say "I love the heat" – you can have mine here in Chicago where temps range from -20 to 110F.  (We're either really hardy here, or really stupid. :))   As soon as my kids are grown (almost there!), I'm moving to Canada with Lynn.  I figure that if I can sing the anthem, they'll me in. 🙂

      • was born 75 years ago (well, 72 actually) in Detroit, which is just as miserable weather-wise as Chicago. I sympathize :).

      • I was born in Montréal and grew up in Southern Ontario.  I can attest to the abysmal heat and humidity in the summers there.  Here on the west coast, like a lot of places it is getting warmer.  This past week, temps away from the ocean (like at my place) have been as high as 28 C (= 82 F) which is way too hot for me —definitely above seasonal norms — and no rain.  I like 20 – 21 C (70 F) max.

Lisa, you're welcome here as far as I am concerned but I doubt they'll ask you to sing the national anthem.  They may however ask you to pledge allegiance to that wanker Prime Minister of ours, that is if you come before 2015.  Hopefully in 2015, we'll dump him on his keister and put Mulcair or Trudeau in the PMO.  Harper is running some attack ads already against Trudeau — must be afraid of him like the Republican/Teabaggers are afraid of Hillary.  A bunch of dufuses the lot — Conservatives and Republican/Teabaggers!

        • Well, I can't sing for shit, but I agree that Haper is a wanker. (I love that word!  So Aussie, which even though it's hot as Hades there, is still the coolest place on the planet, except for the weather being backwards.)  I thought you shipped all your Repubs/baggers down here – you mean to tell me there are more up there?  Crap!  I'm hoping they are not as brain damaged as ours!

  3. I can't believe this joker was a VP candidate!  bwahahahaha!  I hear that Sarah, that bumbling imbecile, is going to run – oh please let that be so!  Can you imagine the debate between her and Hilary?  That will be some prime entertainment right there!  Can you imagine the look on Hilary's face when Sarah tries to answer a question with her idiocy on in full force?  It will be "WTF are you talking about?"  Sarah, if you are not smarter than a thumb tack, then you don't deserve to be president.  My fav Sarah moment (and there are plenty to choose from) was when she curled her hair like Oprah before being interviewed by her.  The look of mortification on Oprah's face was so funny that I almost wet my pants!  They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery – not so when it's being done by a crazy person!

    • Hilary might have some reservations about debating Sarah, it would be too much like dueling with an unarmed opponent.

      • hahahaha – good one!  I can't wait for Hilary to tear that moron apart – pass the popcorn!

  4. So glad to hear things are back on track!

Does Ryan ever actually talk to any ordinary people in his district?  Or do his staffers ensure not so he never has to encounter reality?

  5. Paul Ryan, a gnat on a pile of Republican/Teabagger shit!  The thought that he or Sarah, or any other Republican/Teabagger for that matter, as POTUS or even Vice POTUS is downright terrifying!

I was looking for a particular quote from Paul Ryan but couldn't find it.  Needless to say, it is one that nobody should forget because it shows just how stupid Ryan is, and just what he thinks about the American people, and it isn't nice.

I call crony capitalism, where you take money from successful small businesses, spend it in Washington on favored industries, on favored individuals, picking winners and losers in the economy, that's not pro-growth economics. That's not entrepreneurial economics. That's not helping small businesses. That's cronyism, that's corporate welfare.

Exploiting people's emotions of fear, envy and anxiety is not hope, it's not change, it's partisanship. We don't need partisanship. We don't need demagoguery, we need solutions.

  6. Sure am glad Ed is on during the weekends. Something worth watching!

Good luck with your release and the new apartment hunting. Just don't overdo things once you're sprung from the hospital.

  7. Good news.

  8.   I hope you are home and feeling better.

  9. Thanks everyone.  Hugs. smiley

  10. Hey Tom, you've been missed on C2. Thought you might not be feeling well again. I wish you well, take it day at a time. Get your strength up, and good luck on finding a new place to live from what I'm ready. As to Paul Ryan, he is a cruel and insensitive person as well as being off track on what is needed to get things straightened out.

The Greedy Heartless Ones like the Paul Ryan types, the ones that don't mind doing the dirty work and getting their hands dirty. Cow tow to the Masters so they get a better slice of the bread keeping others in line. Most do know from reading that the Masters during Plantation times had to have those white folk out there to keep the slaves from thinking out loud, organizing, or learning too much. Make sure they kept working, the nose to the grindstone so to speak, so the Masters could live in the luxury they thought they were entitled to. The Ryans of those days got paid to keep things the status quo.

Back to the Castles, one had the King and Queen on their thrones living the lap of luxury for their times. Then there were those that did their bidding, some to fight their battles, others to go collect the taxes be it paid in $ or fill the wagons with wheat, hogs, or chickens. Those who toiled in those fields kept in their places so a few could live in the castle.

Wake up masses. We had a good thing going, our ancestors had worked in the sweat shops and coal mines not that long ago with their children next to their side for half the wages. From sun up to sun down the people worked hard long days and got paid little for it that even after a week of working their children were still hungry, they had little to show for it. Is that what you want to go back to? Because that is what is being forced upon us. The squeeze has been creeping on, little by little…..think about it. Then think very clearly on what needs doing.

    In Solidarity……

  11. Dawg. I love me some Ed!!  I cannot type what I'd like to say about Ayn Rand Ryan and his posse of creeps……or what I would love to see Karma do to them……but I bet y'all get the mental picture, don't you?   Heh heh heh

  12. hAnks you two!  Hugs!

  13. Paul Ryan is a joke, and not funny either…
