I have now survived the first day of the Republican Sequester, and my sky has not fallen… yet.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow, expect no more than an Open Thread, if that.  I have two routine medical appointments.  The first is my podiatrist cutting the recurring cyst from my foot, which he does quarterly.  The second is my six month follow up with my urologist after my kidney stone.  They will kill most of the day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:42 (average 5:11).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: FAITH IN HUMANITY RESTORED: On A High School Basketball Court In Texas

I can tell you for sure that we were not watching Congress. It’s nice to be able to share good news.

From LA Times: As California Republicans gathered here for their weekend convention, it was difficult to recall when the group that produced Ronald Reagan had slumped so low.

It’s nicer to be able to share good news twice. 🙂

From Council for the National Interest: Douglas Bloomfield, who served as AIPAC’s chief lobbyist for more than a decade, reports this week that the lobby intends to insist that the United States not include Israel’s $3 billion grants package in the sequester that goes into effect today.

On a scale of one to ten, AIPUKE is just wrong! The US should NOT fully fund Israeli military atrocities, while taking food from our own hungry!

  1. 3:32 Chez it again, Sam.

  2. MoveOn ~ Thanks for making me cry, Tom.

  3. Puzzle — 4:02 I am not at Chez TC nor Chez Patty. I can talk the talk, but I can't walk this walk.

MoveOn — Would some please, oh please send this to the Republican/Teabaggers in Congress.  This is how real life is supposed to be played.

LA Times — People are sick of the Republican/Teabagger bull shit.  If they could get by their mendacious proclivities and start listening to the American people instead of the American billionaires, banksters,  corporations, and the fanatical, evangelical right, then maybe they might have a chance to rebuild.  But quite frankly, I doubt they can do that because they keep listening to people like Rove.

Council for the National Interest — So the AIPAC lobby thinks that the commitment to Israel should supercede the commitment to America's own people, mostly the small and the least?  What a bunch of sanctimonious, ego centric and uncaring toadies!  No in any language you want to say it is still the same — NO!

Cartoon —  Interesting that a country that is 237 years old did not officially have a national anthem until 1931.  It was a popular song prior to that and competed with other.

    • Second is high for me anymore.

It would be declared Kenyan communism.

They consist of Neocons, Theocons, Corporacons. Plutocons and TEAbuggerers.  No matter who wins the internal struggle for dominance, it's bad for America.

      Exactly!

Republuicans want us to thinbk that this and "In God We Trust" on money goes back to the founding fathers.
