I’m feeling quite pooped, because yesterdays trip to the doctor was a trial, involving over 1 1/2 miles of walking and long waits for transit in blowing snow.  At least it didn’t stick.  I do have mild pneumonia. and will have new antibiotics by tomorrow. I’m current with replies.  It looks like I’ll be down for a few more days.

Today’s took me 3:56 (average 4:59).  To do it. click here.  How did you do?

From MoveOn: The Shocking Reality About Guns And Vaginas

When the vagina in question belongs to Sarah Palin, aka Bullseye Bimbo, who targeted Gabby Giffords, the answer to that last question just may be affirmative.

From NY Times: With each side claiming popular support, President Obama and Congress’s Republican leaders on Monday dug in on their conflicting positions about raising the nation’s debt limit, indicating that the president’s second term will open with a potentially perilous budget showdown.

The key difference, of course, is that every Republican claim to popular support on this issue is a lie.

In return for support from his followers, I understand that the Republican Ministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, will be hiring Satan as a guest commentator. As "the father of lies", he may be their most honest personality.

  1. 4:02  I guess I was never meant to travel to Sorrento, Italy.  I have however been to Sorrento, BC many times.

  2. Standing in blowing snow with pneumonia.  That's crazy!  Medical cab rides should be fully paid for by medicare.

    • ! agree Jerry!  TC, What WERE you thinking?  In this case more is not better!  I've got my size 9's on and they will stay on until you are back to full steam!

      Repeat after me:  size 9s, size 9s, size 9s, size 9s, size 9s, size 9s …

    • Jerry and Lynn,

A medical transportation request must be suibmitted by one's primary care physician and approved.  My doctor put in the request on Monday.

      Thanks!

  3. Hope you're feeling better and advise you to be extremely careful with this Flu and the subsequent infections that arise from it; my Sister had it something awful and had to go to the hospital via ambulance. I noted a few cases where someone had the Flu, got better, and then mysteriously became so ill that nothing could be done to save their lives. It was stated that it was the bacterial infection that was just gaining strength when the Flu was over, thus their guard was let down until it was too late. The other three of us had our Flu Shots and did not get sick. I question the belief that the shot is more harmful than catching the flu as I haven't had it in over 20 years, nor pumonia – and that was when I began taking the yearly shot.(Also take a pnumonia vacine every five years.) These new strains of the Flu Virus can be extremely deadly, espeially to people with COPD and in their 60's or above – which is me… I also find it odd that the U.S. is experiencing three (3) separate epidemics at the same time. The Flu is understandable, as well as the Whooping Cough epidemic which scientists believe was caused by using a less effective vacine due to the original vacine's side effects. They are stating that the new vacine they used for Whooping Cough did not last nearly as long as the older one which was far more effective.

The one I question is the "Winter Vomiting Disease" AKA Norovirus. I question how this disease seemed to appear almost simultaneously in too many U.S. cities to mention, and it's also deadly in several of the cases. Now, even worse, there's a newer version of this viris that's even worse than the one we are experiencing that appeared in Great Britain and I'm hoping that containment measures keep it there for this Flu season, as we don't need to add more misery than the nation is already experiencing.

Hope you get better soon and thank you for the continued support when I was too stricken with grief to write or keep up with our site. Loyalty and perseverance is a trait that too many Americans have forgotten, however I am grateful for your steadfast support when I couldn't see a light at the end of the tunnel. You're a rare commodity these days and appreciated more than you can imagine – so you have to get well soon! 🙂

    • Tkank you so much, Bill.  That's good information, and my pneumonai does seem to be a bacterial infection that took hodl after a flu.  In the words of a fairly wacky general, I shall return.

  4. Puzzle — 4:02 I guess I was never meant to travel to Sorrento, Italy. I have however been to Sorrento, BC many times.

MoveOn — Republican/Teabagger priorities are so screwed up, if I weren't here to see it, I'd say you'd lost your mind!

NY Times — Mr Obama could not be any clearer as to what the debt ceiling is and why he is taking the stance he is.

“They will not collect a ransom in exchange for not crashing the American economy,” Mr. Obama vowed in the East Room, a week before his second inauguration. “The financial well-being of the American people is not leverage to be used. The full faith and credit of the United States of America is not a bargaining chip." … "I want to be clear about this: The debt ceiling is not a question of authorizing more spending,” he said. “Raising the debt ceiling does not authorize more spending. It simply allows the country to pay for spending that Congress has already committed to.”

It looks like there are some Republican/Teabaggers that may break ranks, although at what peril to their political careers?  Peril or not, it is the right thing to do.  This from the Huffington Post.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/15/lisa-murkowski-debt-ceiling_n_2478679.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

Murkowski said, “If you incur an obligation, you have a responsibility to pay for that." According to the paper, "Murkowski said spending cuts are crucial but shouldn't be tied to the debt ceiling debate."

"Murkowski, at a News-Miner editorial board meeting on Jan. 9, said she doesn’t think the debt limit should be used for political leverage," wrote reporter Jeff Richardson. "Murkowski said not all of her colleagues in the Senate will say it out loud, but she believes most agree that failing to raise the debt limit would harm perception of the country."

MSNBC — Loved the play on words "Dread Scott" vs "Dred Scott".  Rick Scott is no more interested in diversity than I am interested in flying to the moon! (No, I am not travelling anywhere! … not even on my fully paid for luxury broom!)  I also imagine that the fanatical religious right-wing nuts won't be pleased with this.  After all, they have a hard time with Jews and Muslims.

Cartoon — The pigskin follies!  Too bad Denver was bounced from the finals for 2013.

    • Still a good time!

I agree.  When it comes to Republicans, fact is stranger than fiction.

I think we'll be OK on it, if Boehner puts it up without support from the majority of Republicans, as he did with the Sandy relief bill and the debt ceiling deal.

I fully agree, although I trust many Floridians might prefer "Dead Scott". 😉

      Soooooo Amen!!

  5. Any case of pneumonia must be treated seriously, mild or not.  Keep yourself warm and hydrated, and REST!

  6. Most of my friends who live in Florida agree that Rick should practice Satanism, and are not sure that he doesn't.

  7. Please take care of yourself my friend!
