The year is almost done, and I’m still down.  I’m current with replies.  Today is a holy day in the Church od the Ellipsoid Orb, and my Broncos’ meditation with the Chiefs will be televised here.  I hope I’m awake to watch.  It’s also the final game in our fantasy football league.  We’ll see about tomorrow.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:40 (average 5:09).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: The international terror group known as Al Qaeda announced its dissolution today, saying that “our mission of destroying the American economy is now in the capable hands of the U.S. Congress.”

In an official statement published on the group’s website, the current leader of Al Qaeda said that Congress’s conduct during the so-called “fiscal-cliff” showdown convinced the terrorists that they had been outdone.

“We’ve been working overtime trying to come up with ways to terrorize the American people and wreck their economy,” said the statement from Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. “But even we couldn’t come up with something like this.”

Teabuggery = Terrorism.

From MSNBC: Can Republicans learn from 2012?

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

The Republican Party is so out of touch with reality that they have two choices: change or go extinct. I don’t think they are willing to change.  Sadly the latter will take time.

From Yahoo News: A woman who told police she shoved a man to his death off a subway platform into the path of a train because she has hated Muslims since Sept. 11 and thought he was one was charged Saturday with murder as a hate crime, prosecutors said.

This is more blood on the hands of the Republicans, especially those of Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians and Faux Noise.

  1. 3:09 Like music to my ears. No sour notes here!

  2. The New Yorker ~ Tongue in cheek humor but the Republi-Thugs are driving us down the road to destruction. Excellent article by Andy Borowitz.

Great line here: The Al Qaeda leader was fulsome in his praise for congressional leaders, saying, “We have made many scary videos in our time but none of them were as terrifying as Mitch McConnell.”

Thanks, Tom, for another great read!

MSNBC ~ You have to have a brain to learn so I think they will just become extinct and be too dumb to lay down and die.

Yahoo news ~ The Republi-Thug hate machine strikes again!

Cartoon ~ Tears? But he didnt want the job to start with according to Tagg.

    • Polivical humor is oftem funny because of the truth that is the joke's foundation.

Scientists believe that it often took up to five minutes for some of the larger dinosaurs to realize they were dead.

      Indeed.

Could it be that Tagg was etching Lord Willard's sketch?

  3. Puzzle — 3:35 . . . but I don't read music! I sing tenor, and do a mean improv 'Amazing Grace', but I don't read music! . . . not to mention I had 50 pounds of cat on the desk trying to control the mouse.

The New Yorker —  When you have a homegrown terrorist group like the GOP, who needs Al-Qaeda?

The GOP is not fiscally responsible. It is a group of ideologues who think that ideology trumps all else. Well when the people are pounding on their doors because they can't eat ideology, what will the GOP do then?

Agree Patty, I loved that line too!

MSNBC — I loved the banner on the bottom "The Twilight Zone".  That's where the Republican/Teabaggers live!  And I loved Jimmy Williams' reference to the GOP as the "…confederacy of dunces."

Will the GOP learn anything from 2012?  It is rather doubtful — they are too caught up in their ideology.  So far, post election, they have demonstrated only that they can point fingers everywhere but at themselves.  They have absolutely no acquaintance with the truth.

Yahoo — She is like a snake spitting venom!  How does someone become so full of hate and still manage to operate.  I suspect the powers that be will find her insane thus blaming her actions on "disease" and denying her choice to hate.

Cartoon — What you didn't see just before this picture was snapped was Rmoney cutting an onion.  After all, he didn't really want the job of POTUS.

    • When I was in practice I could sing 1st Tenor, 2nd Tenor, or Baritone.  Is contralto too high for you?

      Amen.

That's what's happening, but even so, she would probabally still be institutionalized had Republicans mot kicked most mental patients onto the streets.

      See my reply to Patty.

      • One of our choir leaders tried to get me to sing alto but it was just too high.  Another tenor, and he was really good, and I would joke that he couldn't go as low as me, and I couldn't go as high as he did.  If I had trouble getting a line, I often sang the base line.  When I was in an all girl's choir in the late sixties, we were well known in Ontario, and I was the only tenor.  The director, Frank Holton, tested everybody and was the one who put me in tenor.
