I’m hurrying to get done, so I can rest before leaving for volunteer work in prison.  I’m current with replies.  Since I shall return home late, having missed sleep, and shall be overly tired, please expect no more tomorrow than an Open Thread.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:10 (average 4:07).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: BOOM: World’s Awesomest* Astrophysicist Destroys December 21 Prophecy In A Snap

I’ve noticed that the people hyping the December 12 idiocy tend to be the same people infamous as 9/11 truthers.

From Washington Post: Wonkbook’s Number of the Day: 60 percent. That’s the percentage of Americans who support higher taxes on higher incomes, according to a new Post-ABC poll. Seventy-three percent of Democrats and 63 percent of independents support an increase, whereas 59 percent of Republicans oppose increasing taxes on the well-off.

Republicans are completely out of step with America, as usual.

From Daily Kos: He doesn’t have a vote in the Senate anymore, but he has a critical interest in how the legislative process works. Or in the case of recent years, doesn’t. So President Obama is backing the filibuster reform plan from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

To avoid confusion, the plan this author attributes to Harry Reid, is really the plan proposed by Oregon’s Jeff Merkley and Tom Udall (D-NM).

  1. 3:11 I couldn't run as fast as you, Tom.

  2. MoveOn ~ Bazinga!

Washington Post ~ Do I detect some goose-stepping On the part of the Righties? They are listening to too much FAUX NOISE. It's addled their brains.

Daily Kos  ~ Go for it Harry! It doesn't matter to whom credit is given, as long as it gets done.

Cartoon ~ It's so sad that the borders are not honored.

  3. Puzzle — 3:13  This body does not run!  Speed walk, yes, but the sand is tough for a speed walker.  Throws the gait off!

MoveOn — "…aliens come and they take over the Capitol. … another 'Independence Day' …" — Isn't that what the Republican/Teabaggers are trying to do, only their's is not part of the Hollywood schtick?  And here I thought they didn't believe in science.  Now who knew that an astrophysicist would be so funny, learned, and personable, able to explain things in laymen's terms.  This is a great clip!

Washington Post — I saw a clip earlier this week I think, or maybe last weekend, showing a Teabagger, unemployed, using food stamps and Medicaid, but still adamant that he should worship at the altar of the Tea Party.  Someone does not understand what is happening!  He can't even see what is in his best interest.  This fellow belongs to the 59% and has been watching Faux Noise and sipping to much insaniTea.

Daily Kos — Just do it!

Cartoon — Before partitioning, that whole area was known as Palestine and the people there, Muslims and Jews, were Palestinians.  After partitioning, Palestinian Muslims had so much more space, although fragmented a bit.  After how many wars, the people we now call Palestinians have less land and the fight is still going on.  It is past time to beat those swords into plough shares, recognise both groups as having a right to exist, and come to a just settlement — just for both groups.
