More Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!

In 2010, Republicans ran on a platform of Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!  Then they did everything to stop Barack Obama from instituting measures to create jobs.  In spite of that, the economy keeps growing, due to the  few measures Democrats were able to pass, and those steps Obama could take via executive order.  The Republican Party does not want you to understand that.

3Bikin1

Last month, when the unemployment rate dropped by three-tenths of a percentage point to dip below 8 percent for the first time in 43 months, Mitt Romney dismissed the drop as meaningless. Some Republicans said federal officials manipulated the numbers to help President Obama win re-election. This month, when the jobless rate went up by a smaller amount, Mr. Romney took it as gospel, proof that Mr. Obama’s policies are a failure. Last month, Mr. Romney focused on a reduction in the work force. This month, he would not admit that the work force had expanded.

The truth is that Mr. Obama was right when he talked about “real progress” in the economy during a campaign swing in Ohio, where the state unemployment rate has declined from 8.6 percent a year ago to 7 percent recently. Republican obstructionism has made it much harder to achieve the improvement we have seen, but it has failed in its seeming intent to ensure stagnation.

That left Mr. Romney flailing around for a response. His proclamation that the economy was at a “virtual standstill” is believable only if you adopt Mr. Romney’s denial of stark reality. A candidate who could ignore Chrysler’s announcement of 1,100 new jobs in Toledo and claim that Chrysler was moving jobs to China can just as easily see a flat line in an upward trend.

In fact, the jobs recovery has not been derailed; it is showing some signs of acceleration. With 171,000 jobs added last month and job tallies for the two prior months revised upward, employment growth since July has averaged 173,000 jobs a month, up sharply from the average monthly pace of 67,000 in the second quarter of 2012… [emphasis added]

Inserted from <NY Times>

Almost all the job losses during the Obama Administration occurred in the first few months, before his policies could begin to be instituted.  All those losses are directly attributable to the economic malfeasance of the Republican administration that caused them.  Furthermore, hundreds of thousands of public sector jobs have been lost due to Republicans cutting services in states they control to provide tax cuts to millionaires.  Under Obama’s leadership all those jobs have been replaced and more. The economy of finally starting to recover from the Republican recession.

Lawrence O’Donnell discussed the jobs report with Ezra Klein and Eugene Robinson.

Job creation needs to accelerate. We can choose Obama’s policies that, if put into practice, instead of falling to Republican sabotage, will spur job growth in the US, or we can choose Willard’s policies that will create more jobs in China.

  1. Every single thing the President tried to accelerate recovery the House blocked– it is absolutely amazing that recovery is happening in spite of obstruction –

  2. The political employees of Corruption Inc aka the Republican/Teabaggers should be fired for dereliction of duty at the very least, as the theme of making Mr Obama a one term president by obstructing legislation is not in keeping with their oath of office, and therefore dereliction of duty .  Personally, I think that there should be a way to charge them with sedition!  After all, they are obstructing the work of the government and the people which could easily lead to rioting, violence and death.

If the Republican/Teabaggers spent as much time working for the people as they do opposing Mr Obama, the US would not have some of the problems it has now.  The Republican/Teabaggers have shown themselves to be economically myopic, socially uncaring and irresponsible, bigoted, racist and warmongers.

    Re-elect Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!

  3. I'm thinking that the American people are getting sick of Mittens insinuations that they are stupid. Every time another lie leaps out of his open mouth, he does just that.

Swing voters might just be swinging our way.
