Yesterday I blogged and rested, and I plan the same for today.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  It will also be my last rest day, as Monday I have an all-say appointment, Tuesday and Thursday are prison volunteer days, and Wednesday and Friday are recovery days.  Color me scarce next week.

Today’s took me 4:28 (average 5:10).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

A Side-by-Side Comparison of the 2012 Democratic and Republic Party Platform Documents

It’s a real eye opener.  Click through.

From Chicago Tribune: A deeply divided and unproductive Congress wrapped up its final business before November’s elections early on Saturday as the U.S. Senate passed a stopgap measure to fund federal programs and avoid an October 1 government shutdown.

The 62-30 vote on the funding bill, which now moves to President Barack Obama’s desk to be signed into law.

You remember I said Republicans would cave-in, if Democrats did not bow to Republican blackmail. Democrats didn’t. Republicans did.

It’s so hard to believe this was a Republican.

  1. Puzzle — 4:09  Pretty flower.  I wonder what they smell like?  I had heard of mammosa or mimosa but never knew what it looked like.  Apparently this erica mammosa is native to South Africa and comes in several different colours.

MoveOn — Another excellent and very understandable video that even Republicans should understand, since according to Santorum, all the smart people are Democrats.  The 'making the polluters pay' statement reminded me of the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline.  One of the BC government concerns is the cost of a cleanup.  It was noted by the government , who maintains a 'polluter pays' policy, that the spill insurance that Enbridge carries is for $60 million, but the cost of the Kalamazoo spill in Michigan that took two years to complete was $762 million.  When told that Enbridge needed to increase its insurance substantially, Enbridge basically said "Relax.  Trust us.  We have it covered."  Fertilise your veggies with that one!

Compare 2012 — "[T]he Republican Party does not accept the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court." — I'll bet this one will help Baby Bush and Cheney sleep better, not to mention future Republican warmongers!  I wonder if they will insist that others, like Ahmadinejad, be turned over to this court, that they don't believe in, for trial?  Or will they just casually eliminate them and say they did the world a favour?

I think this is an excellent tool but people do need to do more digging so they are comfortable with the issues.

Chicago Tribune — Well as Lee might say "La-di-dah!"  I guess the election is just close for the Republicans and another crisis would only stict in everybody's memory.  Not to mention that Rmoney is creating enough crisises all by himself!

Cartoon — A glorious day, and yet it took another 100 years see more implementation of racial freedom.  And now, Republicans are trying to take the country back to pre 1862 policies.  Sad, maddening, disgusting!  It should never be allowed to happen.

I found this article on Care2 — a comparison of George Romney and his son, Mitt Romney.  Rather interesting as are some of the comments.  The apple sure fell a long, long, long way from the tree.

  2. "The Story of Broke" is an excellent depiction of waste in our Government.

The is no comparison between the 2 parties.  They did lay out the differences very well. Vote Democrat in 2012.

  3. Lord, I LOVE those Aussies!   From Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Wayne Swan:

“Let’s be blunt and acknowledge the biggest threat to the world’s biggest economy are the cranks and crazies that have taken over the Republican Party.  Despite President Obama’s goodwill and strong efforts, the national interest was held hostage by the rise of the extreme Tea Party wing of the Republican Party.”
