Yesterday I did manage to post articles and distribute the links before leaving for prison for the CoDA group there with ten prisoners.  My guys, as always, were magnificent, and I cannot praise them enough for their honesty, insight, and commitment.  I talked about how we need to take of ourselves and how supportive you are that I am blogging less to be there for them, without running myself into the ground.  The blog and that group have one thing in common.  There is a Critter in both places. Critter there says HI to Critter here.  When I returned home at around 9:30 PM, my apartment had been closed up through the heat of the day and I was met by 98°.  ARGH!  It took long enough to cool it down that I slept poorly.  I have one other article today, but I will be unable to distribute links.  I have to go out and run errands before it gets too hot, and I also need to sleep.  I an not current with replies, but I will catch up when I can.  Tomorrow I’ll be back in prison for a meeting with around 100 guys.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Yesterday’s took me 4:31 (average 4:58).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: What 3 Things Do You Need To Change The World?

My role in this is as a writer, informer and prison volunteer. What’s yours? For more info: The Story of Stuff

From The Truth Team: Mitt Romney’s latest TV ad deliberately manipulates President Obama’s words to create a false attack on his support for American entrepreneurs. Watch Obama for America Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter compare what the two candidates would actually do for small businesses, and then share the facts with anyone who needs to know the truth about the President’s record.

There is a critical difference between Obama’s and Romney’s ads. Obama’s are true.

From Haute America: To prove that the U.S. could have produced the Opening Ceremony separates for less than Ralph Lauren manufactured them in China, I decided to examine the American-made alternatives currently available. The following articles of clothing are all manufactured in the U.S. and serve as a reminder, that in fact, our Olympians could be wearing less expensive American-made apparel than the Chinese-made goods they’ll be sporting in 10 days.

I’m a huge fan of Olympic Sports, but I plan to boycott the Opening Ceremony in protest.

  1. Since June 27 we here in KCMO have had at least 17 days of 100+ degree heat – and the ones that weren't 100, were in the high 90's.
It literally takes your breath away just going outside, so I feel for you!
I guess we can be thankful that at least the Repubicans assure there is no such thing as "Global Warming" … think how much WORSE it'd be if there were.

  2. 3:47 I'm happy with this time. Can anyone beat it today?

  3. I applaud your efforts to make a difference in other peoples' lives. Tom.

The funny thing about the ads denouncing Pres. Obama's remarks about entrepreneurship is that Rmoney said the same thing about 10 years ago. Can you say Etch-A-Sketch?

Oh no! Not the evil Cheney-bot!

I won't be watching the opening ceremonies either.

    • Thanks Patty.  It's a privilege.

Shhhh!  We aren't supposed to know.

I think, rather, that Willard would be Cheney's bot.

  4. I try to make a difference   Do my part making sure the life of a child has a choice.  By being apart of the change we would like to  see in others. l recycle, volunteer at my daughter's school and stand behind President Obama.  Hoping just one person see's that  our country needs him for another 4 yrs.  Also by recognizing and thanking others for there hard work.  Thanks TomCat

  5. Damn!  My entire response disappeared!  I did it yesterday so I'll try to remember it.
Sorry to hear about all that oppressive heat!  I had my mother out yesterday and the temps were up to 30 C so way too hot for me.  She had a sweater on.  The AC was on in the car but still too cool for her.  We came to a good solution that would work.  Too bad the Republican/Teabaggers couldn't negotiate like my mother and I!  From last Friday through Monday we've had some rain and temps around 17-20 C which is fine for me.

Puzzle — 3:59!  Nothing like a drink of cool fresh water when you're getting heated up over a puzzle!

MoveOn — I did the quiz and I'm an investigator same as 18.4% of respondents.  Hmmm… guess I should have figured that as I am always asking questions of digging into something.  I used to try to fix broken adding machines at work 40 years ago (no calculators) with springs from ballpoint pens, spitballs and chewing gum.  I became so proficient at it that the real repair person left a set of tools for me to use.  I lived in rural or northern towns where the repairman turned up once a month at best unless it was a real emergency.

Truth Team — I don't have TV so I don't get American TV to see the all ads.  But the ones I have seen here and on-line stack up as being 100% negative on the Rmoney side.  All he seems to do is attack Mr Obama but does not articulate his vision or policies.  Mr Obama's ads are partially negative, but in a way of contrasting what he has and proposes to do which he articulates.  I have no respect for any politician that does nothing but negative ads.

I happened across a url on Care 2 http://www.isidewith.com which has a total non scientific quiz to see who you align with.  No surprises here for me.  I align with Mr Obama 88%, Jill Stein 87%, and LOL with Rmoney on 0% of the major issues.  I align with 77% of the American voters.  Have some fun and try it.

Olympics — So much for showcasing 'Made in America'!  I don't pay much attention to the Olympics but do know there is already a controversy since the staff displayed the South Korean flag instead of the North Korean flag, causing the North Koreans to walk off the field.  Oops!

Cartoon — That man looks like pure evil with the snarl on his face!

    • Yesterday wasn't bad, but the sun snuck out today.  92° in the breezeway.  89° at my desk.  73° outside.

      Good time.

      That's all he has.

      I was 95% Obama, 94% Stein, 5% Libertarian, 0% RMoney Reich.

I'm a huge fan of Olympic Sports.

He is pure evil with or without the snarl.
