I got more sleep last night, in spite of the fireworks.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow appears routine, but I have a ton of paperwork to do.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 5:45 (average 6:11).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: How Bad Did MoveOn Members Want To Help Pass Health Care Reforms? This Bad.

5hcr

A lot of effort went into it, and more would have, had Republicans not watered it down.

From Sacramento Bee: Under a little-known practice, Oregon social service officials are allowing certain food stamp applicants to deduct medical marijuana costs from their income when qualifying for benefits.

Only elderly or permanently disabled Oregonians who qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance may file for the deduction, according to the Oregonian ( http://is.gd/FmyWkp).

The Oregon deduction puts the state at odds with the federal government.

Yet again, Oregon leads the way.

From The New Civil Rights Movement: A same-sex couple who have a two-year old son have been denied access to a health club’s swimming pool because they are a same-sex couple. The Roanoke Athletic Club [bigots delinked], which is owned by a regional Virginia medical provider, Carilion Clinic, has revoked the membership of the family after they realized the family was headed by two gay dads.

Yet another example of Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian love.

And a historic day it was! πŸ˜‰

  1. 5:59  Today's puzzle is a tough one…at least for you and me.  A little tougher for me.

  2. Puzzle — 5:20!  Woohoo!!!!!

MoveOn — Impressive!  But then, the American middle and poor classes are more than worth the effort!  They are the ones that will benefit most!  Thank you MoveOn!  Republican/Teabaggers are always "pissing in someone's cornflakes"!

Medical Marijuana — Good move for Oregon.  I understand that for some people, marijuana is the only relief that they get from pain.  I am not particularly in favour of recreational use, but for legitimate medicinal uses, I support it.  TC, do you think you could export some of that Oregon water to the other states — it must be common sense in the water!

The Unhealthy Health Club — I suppose had they gone in as a father and child, and a single adult no one would have been the wiser!  That is discrimination.  I hope these two dads sue the owners of the health club.  There is no place in today's society for this bear scat.  I also think that someone needs to send this medical clinic a copy of the Declaration of Independence — you know, that pesky little part about all people being created equal!  I had a very quick glance down the constitution but did not see any mention of equal rights.  What did I miss or is this "issue" just too recent to have made it to an amendment given all the recent Republican governments and the time an amendment would take?

Cartoon — There is still more there than current bikinis!  I want to know where the yellow polka-dots are!  1946?  I'll bet they were trying conserve material for the war reparations that were going on so the bikini was literally made of scraps.

    • Okay. You wear the jigsaw crown today. Congrats!

      • Thanks!  I've been doing this for almost a year and I finally beat all 3 of the experts!  I'll enjoy it to day but tomorrow will likely be back to normal.

    • A winner! (See above).

      Indeed.

Almost every time it rains in the Midwest, it came by way of Oregon.

      Agree.  Too recent.

If they were trying to save on materials, they would have invented what we have today.

  3. MoveOn members rock!

Oregon leads the way. Hooray for the good people there! I agree with Lynn. There must be some really good water for everyone to possess such common sense.

And Virginians prove once again that they are still living in the Stone Age.

I'm surprised at the date of the bikini's premier. I thought it was Bridget Bardot making waves with it in the 1950's on some beach in France.

    • Amen.

Not the case.  Western Oregon is progressive.  Eastern Oregon is like Idaho.

      Really!

Bardot could make waves with it on any beach, any time.
