My apartment reached 104° yesterday, but it wasn’t so bad, because it was one day only.  When the heat wave lasts longer, it’s far worse, because the building never cools between days.  Today I need to chase down the pain meds I was supposed to get early this week.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow appears routine.

22Medicare

Republicans’ purpose in privatizing Medicare is converting benefits to overhead and profit.  Benefits do nothing to help the 1%.

From Think Progress: Conservative donors are in for a big weekend: “Both Mitt Romney and billionaire industrialist brothers David and Charles Koch are holding hush-hush events with wealthy donors designed to keep the dollars coming in.”

This is where Rmoney’s Etch-a-Sketch is programmed.  I wonder if Scalia and Thomas are attending the Koch fundraiser AGAIN.

Progressives should take note of the extent to which Alan Grayson supports Obamacare, despite his desire for a single payer system.

  1. Yeah, I fully agree.  How is burning a cross on someone's lawn "free speech?"  It's not speech.  It's a hate crime and we have laws that are supposed to deal with things like that.

  2. Puzzle — Well under the average, almost as good as you TC!  Go figure — I'm a bird brain!

MoveOn — Big difference in the costs of 'bricks and mortar and operations' between  Medicare and the insurance companies.  I guess this is built in executive profit bonuses?  What a system! NOT!!  here's a related article that appeared on Care2 http://www.care2.com/causes/over-1-billion-in-consumer-rebates-at-risk-in-health-care-ruling.html

Well it seems that this is the same story as the interview with Alan Grayson.  All I can add is "Eeehaw!"   The Fundraiser — That sounds like a good book title — filled with political intrigue, crime, espionage, murder, extravagances, lies and innuendo …

I heard about this a few days ago and my first reaction was 'don't they already have enough money raised?'  apparently the goal for the weekend is close to $500 million I think — that's a lot of escargot!

Cartoon — So it violates free speech?  What about hate laws?  Cross burnings by their very nature are designed to intimidate.  These are not celebratory marshmallow roasts but deliberate attempts to coerce, intimidate and silence people.  SCOTUS was as lame assed on this decision as it was on Citizens United.  This is the 21st century, not the 19th century.  There is no room for this in a civilised society.

    • Good one!

Profit and overhead.  It takes a lot of people to research excuses for not providing the benefits someone paid for.

      Eeehaw, indeed!

For the 1% enough money is an oxymoron,

      Exactly my point.

  3. 4:01   Now I am back on my winning ways.
