From WSBT: Arizona Governor Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill banning abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from receiving money through the state, her office said in a statement.
The Republican-backed Whole Woman’s Health Funding Priority Act cuts off funding for family planning and health services delivered by Planned Parenthood clinics and other organizations offering abortions.
And the Republican War on Women continues.
From The White House: After signing an agreement that details our future relationship with Afghanistan, President Obama explains that we must now focus on the type of nation our troops return home to, and calls on Congress to take the money we are no longer spending at war, use half of it to pay down our debt, and use the other half to rebuild America.
Although I think we should be withdrawing from Afghanistan MUCH more quickly, we certainly need to use the money to rebuild America.

Thanks for that Nameless. Although the narrator says there is no correlation to higher crime etc, years ago (about 35) I lived in Victoria, BC and had friends that worked in both the mental hospital there, the Eric Martin Pavillion, and in the maximum security prison, Wilkinson Road. In both places they had extra staff when there was a full moon. One friend was the head guard at the prison and said the incidences of violence and other trouble was noticeably higher and would reduce over the following few days. At the hospital, there tended to be more ‘escapes’ or incidences of wondering as well as other activities not seen at other times of the month as much. I tended to think that this might be as a result of the moon forces ‘pulling’ on the gray matter, much like the tides. But hey, what do I know, I’m a banker, not a doctor/scientist? Maybe that’s why my bank balance keeps going down — the moon is pulling on it! 😉

Cartoon — That looks round in shape (not spherical!) so if the Republican/Teabaggers believe it’s flat, it must mean it’s a frizbee? So that’s how God gets his recreation! He throws a frizbee! Who brings it back? Oh, that must be one of those, less government DIY things!

Brewerstan — And this surprises who? Shoving women into the hands again of back alley butchers, not providing equal access to decent affordable preventative healthcare for women which has not only an economic implication but also a racial implication — the Republican/Teabagger war on women is still in full force and effect. Keep it up Repugs and hopefully you’ll be able to hear the voices of American women in November 2012! … and again in 2014!
The White House — While I agree with you TC about getting the troops home faster, what would they be coming back to? — unemployment? a society cut to ribbons with partisan politics? At least they would be out of one harm’s way, but would they be entering another?
I like the idea of redirecting the war spending to the national debt and rebuilding. That will or should help the returning troops as well as everyone else, . . . well except the military industrial complex who will look for new wars to start. But I dare say that the Republican/Teabaggers will go against this kicking and screaming! They will use any and every excuse, logical or not (heavy, heavy on the NOT!), to yet again obstruct the work or the nation.
