Let me be clear that I am not attacking Christians here.  Supply-side Jesus is completely opposite to the Jesus that authentic Christians worship.  Supply-side Jesus was invented to justify the Republican false gospel of hate, greed and racism for Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians.  Many practitioners of this obscenity prey on their congregants and promise miracles, but when Supply-side Jesus can’t cut it, and there is no miracle, guess whose fault it is.

17pat_robertson_devil_signOne of the most sad and telling claims of so-called ‘faith healers’ from Benny Hinn to Todd Bentley is that the reason people are not healed at their healing conferences or through their television ministries is not because the faith healer wasn’t able to cure the ailment or sickness but because of the lack of faith of the person (and often the inadequate size of their financial gifts) who sought the healing. If only the person had genuine faith, so it goes, then the healing would’ve worked, so don’t blame the healer!

Today on the 700 Club [Theocons delinked], we saw an example of that when a viewer called in wondering why it is that when he prayed with Pat Robertson during his show for a healing of his knee pain the pain came back the next day. Robertson responded that people can “give up” his healings because “you don’t believe that it’s real” and never claimed the healing, “this is mine.”… [emphasis added]

Here’s the video.

It does not take rocket science to figure out how connected Robertson is with God.  A few years back Disney World announced that they had discontinued their policy to discriminate against LGBT employees.  Robertson quickly prophesied that God had told him Orlando would be smitten with a hurricane in retribution for Disney World’s satanic policy.  The next hurricane to hit the US made landfall at Virginia Beach and damaged Robertson’s headquarters.  God must have a wonderful sense of humor.

  1. I laughed at the irony of that hurricane hit too. Real Christians will not feel attacked even without your disclaimer.  People who follow and seek to know Christ know that Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn, Michelle Bachmann, and Rick Santorum et al, are perverting the good news and fouling the precious name of Jesus.  I call Pat Robertson’s followers and all the others like them Xtians, because they took the Christ out of Christian (not my word originally but I have permission to use it).

    • Xtians ~ I love it!

    • “Xtians” — because they took the Christ out of Christian.  I love it too.  I have never liked the contraction of Christian.  It just didn’t sit right with me.  Thanks Debbie, now I know succinctly why.

    • Welcome Debbie! 🙂

I know.  The disclaimer was not intended for real Christians.  It was intended as a warning to Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians.  I am familiar with the term and think it completely appropriate.  When leaders have been outed with male escorts and the like, I have also referred to them as XXXtians.

  2. Pat Robertson and his ilk are all snake-oil salesmen. The get rich by exploiting people.

  3. In one form or another, Supply-side Jesus has been around for a long time. Allow me to recommend for your consideration Sinclair Lewis’ “Elmer Gantry.”  Mr. Lewis didn’t model Elmer Gantry after Pat Robertson, but it is entirely possible that Pat Robertson modeled himself after Elmer.

    • John, I have read it and agree.  The difference is that Gantry wanted to bilk rubes.  Today’s bunch want to bilk the entire nation.

  4. They have , all of these fakes and phonies,  made  “Christian’ a negative–  these Pseudo Christians follow the teachings of  Jesus Christ  not at all, instead they practice to deceive– they are shameful – and  a disgrace.

  5. Patty is absolutely correct. I hereby rebuke that fraudulent Pat Robertson and command him to leave us forever!!!

  6. I published a story about Pat Robertson and his reaction to OWS about 3.5 months ago.  Here is in part what I said then:

Pat Robertson, an 81 yr old televangelist with a net worth of $200 million to $! billion is calling on Christians to not be involved in OWS because he says this is a rebellion of anger. . . . As a Christian, I say horsepuckey! Christian doctrine calls on us to support the weak, the disenfranchised. It calls on us to love our neighbour and to seek justice for all creation. IMO, supporting and/or being active in OWS is just what Christians are called to do. Christians are called to be active but not violent. . . .  angry at the inequality, the injustice that they see all around them. While the 1%, of which Robertson is a part by definition, sip coffee or drinks in their well appointed clubs, the poor and middle class are being decimated by injustice, unaffordable healthcare, unemployment, loss of pension or the threat of loss of social security,  . . . You don’t have to be Christian to be Christ like. To the non Christians in the protest, I say ‘Thank you for being Christ like.” To the Christians in the protest I say “Thank you for being Christ like.” To the Christians not involved in the protest or who scorn it, it is time to find Christ because he is at the protest and will one day clear the temple again.

Pat Robertson belongs to this last group — the supply-side psuedo Christians, or Xtians, who wouldn’t recognise the true Jesus Christ if he met him face to face.  The more I hear and see these supply-side psuedo Xtians, the more I hear the  coming clamour in the streets and temple.  For modern days, Mahatma Gandhi said it best “My life is my message.”  Gandhi is the most Christ like person I know of.

    • Lynn, I disagree on one point only.  The Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians would recognize him, and because they did, they would crucify him.

  7. I find it quite fascinating that so many people have now identified that there is a group of people (large group) who are very vocal at proclaiming themselves as “christians” but who virtually break that third commandment by taking the name of the Lord in vain.

To take God’s NAME in vain is simply calling ones self a “christian” and then doing and saying so much which is totally different from how Jesus livd and treated people. Bravo folks, I admire you very much.

To get a really good insight into these barbarious falsehoods, one only needs to study Bible Prophecy in conjunction with real unadulterated History. Checking out the Books of DANIEL and REVELATION and comparing them carefully with the symbolism from both and when one gets down to the realities, they will find that there comes eventually just three groups in Revelation chapter 13. You have a trio of religious characters. satan, the Beast and the image to the Beast. These three work hand in glove together. The Image to the Beast is the group also known as the False Prophet who will endeavour to set up a system of pressure power exactly the same as was the ruling Religion during the Dark Ages. Yes, it is coming very soon and is almost here. Unfortunately MOST folks will never study their Bibles to see just who are the instigators or what will become of them. The lake of fire will be their final ending. You know that fire that these people have been frightening everyone and declaring that folkswill be burnt in. THAT is their own destination

      Priceless… smile 🙂

    • Welcome Rob. 🙂

Going back to the original language, when you take a name you are swearing an oath by that name, so to take the Lord’s name in vain means swearing a false oath on God’s name.  I also disagree with your eschatology, but that subject is far too symbolic for certainty.

Jesus said that by loving God and by loving our neighbors, we are effectively keeping  all the law and the prophets, so rather than worship a book, I focus on those thinks.
