Teabuggery in NY-26

I seldom contribute to out of state political races.  I’m a very poor man.  However, in this case I could not resist making a small donation to help Kathy Holchuk buy ads to counter the Rove and Crotch brothers money.  Her chance of winning is about even and that’s an improvement.  There’s some more good news.  Jane Corwin, the republican, has voluntarily associated herself with racism and animal porn.

17palodinoHours after the Tea Party Express [Teabuggery delinked] held a news conference at the Jane Corwin Campaign Headquarters to endorse the Republican in the 26th District special election, the Rothenberg Political Report, a respected newsletter out of D.C., classified the race as “Toss-Up/Tilts Democratic.” Rothenberg said, “Democrat Kathy Hochul now looks well-positioned to pull off a significant upset.”

Many political analysts believe Hochul could achieve the victory, in large part, due to the independent candidate Jack Davis, who is running on the Tea Party line. Monday, the Tea Party Express and TEA New York used the opportunity to denounce Davis for what it calls “deceptively giving himself the ‘tea party’ title” when he does not truly support core tea party values of the movement.

Carl Paladino, who ran as the Republican candidate for NY Governor last year and who had the endorsement of TEA New York, also attended the events and supports Corwin… [emphasis added]

Rachel Maddow could not resist this one.  She provided the details and discussed the difficulty Republicans have finding qualified candidates with Eugene Robinson.

Go Kathy!  This district is so red that taking it would be noteworthy indeed.

  1. Not only did Corwin vote to have female prisoners totally SHACKLED during their ENTIRE labor and delivery (even if it were by C-section), but apparently she also didn’t get the Memo that the Ryan Plan to eliminate Medicare via Vouchers is now too toxic to touch, because just a few days ago …

But even as some House Republicans have started to express doubts about the wisdom of trying to push the Ryan plan this year, Ms. Corwin has vigorously defended it, arguing it places Medicare on sound financial footing. “This protects the Medicare program and ensures that there are benefits for future generations.”

    Add in this tidbit:

ThinkProgress investigation has found that American Crossroads’ preferred candidate, Republican nominee Jane Corwin, is also investing heavily in corporations that outsource U.S. jobs and has reaped massive dividends from these holdings.
    [snip]
According to just-released FEC filings, Corwin recently loaned her campaign an additional $960,000, bringing her total personal spending on the race to $1.96 million. These loans are nearly 10 times the $202,000 she has raised from supporters.

No wonder she’d dropping in the Polls!

  2. This is what happened in my district, the NY 23 2 years ago. The republicans and teaparty fought and a Democrat , Bill Owens won. Hadn’t had a Democrat in the office in almost 200 years.
People were very angry that over a million dollars were poured into the district from outside.
Bill has been a great representative.
